Georgia Tech Head Coach Paul Johnson Thinks SEC Football Is Overrated
Brad Barr-USA TODAY Sports
In an interview with USA TODAY on Monday, Georgia Tech's head football coach Paul Johnson said the SEC football is like ACC basketball this year - overrated...
quote:

“Week in and week out, I promise you there isn’t any difference in lining up and playing those guys than there is playing North Carolina, Clemson and Virginia Tech,” Johnson said. “What happened in my opinion is you had really good teams at the top of their league and they got credit. It was almost like the ACC in basketball this year. They all get ranked in the top 15 and then when they beat each other they don’t ever drop. Then you get to the tournament and you don’t do so well and you start thinking maybe they were overhyped.”

Baw. Are you thinking that whomping Kentucky, Vandy, and a down Georgia is owning the SEC? Getting a beej from a fat girl doesn't mean you TF'ed Kate Upton.

Paul should take another look at his record against in-state rival UGA (his most common SEC opponent) before he trolls like this...I hope Chubb/Michel run for a combined 500 yards against the North Avenue Trade School this season...frick Tech

Look, I'm not a SEC guy, but I think Johnson is off here. The ACC really only has two, elite teams: Clemson and Florida State. After that, you've got the UNC, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and NC State caliber teams. Year in and year out, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia are pretty damn good/elite. You saw it when they split between four national championships and Georgia was oh so close multiple years. After that, Tennessee, Arkansas, (lately) South Carolina, Ole Miss, and even A&M have done great things.

Top to bottom, the ACC is nowhere near the caliber of football as the SEC.

Except in most years when it comes to bowl season and out of conference scheduling the SEC dominates. So not like the ACC in this years tournament at all.

He's talking out his arse, he's only playing teams like UK, Vandy, and UGA. They keep giving him extensions, but they could probably grab Les Miles at a decent price.

Funny he can't use his own team as a reference.

SEC offices in Birmingham have watered down the rest of the SEC with bias scheduling, favors, turning heads the other way when it comes to drug testing at Bama. This ain't your father's SEC anymore.

Actually this is your father's SEC. That's exactly what happened in the 70's also.
