Former Texas A&M QB Kyle Allen has finally shared some of the reasoning behind him transferring from the Aggies to Houston. He says the "culture" left behind from the Johnny Manziel era of letting players do whatever they want was out of control. Per ESPN...

“I think the culture was a big part of it, and I think that stems from Johnny [Manziel's] era there — the way that they let Johnny and [others] act there,” Allen said in an interview with CBS Sports. “They [could] do that and still win games because they had Johnny … and five offensive linemen playing in the NFL right now.

“A lot of people were riding off that, ‘I can do whatever the hell I want and win on Saturday.’”

"When you don't have players like Johnny and [others] there anymore, you have to really come together as a team and scrap for wins," Allen told CBS Sports. "We had a lot of people who were talking about the same goal but weren't all committed and on the same page to get to that goal.

I question how much true talent is at A&M as well. There may be some talent there but they are playing in the SEC West now and not in the Big 12. In reality since A&M joined the SEC 4 seasons ago they have a combined record of 3-9 vs. Bama, LSU and Auburn (1-7 vs Bama & LSU). There is a large talent gap between those 3 schools and A&M. It is clear when these schools line up vs A&M that the Aggies are at a significant disadvantage.

The "swagtastic" culture that Sumlin created at A&M worked temproarily with Manziel but is being exposed as a ruse to get recruits. Allen left because he realized that at A&M the loose culture allows the inmates to run the asylum. No program in college football history has ever had its #1 and #2 quarterbacks transfer in the same season so there is obviously a major problem. It's so funny to see Aggies ripping on the kid when all he did is answer questions that every sports reporter in the country has been beating down his door to ask. He didn't disrespect of flame A&M at all. Sumlin sold his soul to the devil to get recruits and now he is dealing with the repercussions. The "swag" culture at A&M with DJs at practices, the fancy locker room with a graffiti painted barber shop, constant uniform changes, the helicopter, etc. created an environment where the kids thought they are bigger than the program. Allen simply answered the questions that everybody had on their mind.
