Opening day

As a reminder of how far the Black and Gold have come, Sorenson at D1 Baseball wrote an article on why Vanderbilt won't repeat. It sounds like the staff writers are tired of writing about how talented Vandy is.

The site won't let me copy and paste, so you'll have to click the link.

The article boils down to "Vandy is really talented, but who knows what can happen in baseball?"

Well heck, I'd bet on "the field" too over Vandy (or any other individual team). Not exactly a stretch of an article...

Exactly. The fact that he had to write an entire article to make his "point" shows how ridiculously far this program has come since Corbin got here.

They so mad. I love it. I do not love that DirecTV does not have SECN+.

That was disheartening. Poor pitching and a poorly timed wild pitch nulls out an amazing day at the plate for Swanson.

Despite the awful weather conditions that clearly affected pitching, vandy was 3 Hayden Stone outs away from a sweep. Lots of freshmen got work which against a decent team which was the plan.

Man this weather sucks. Hope it gets much better pretty quickly. I like baseball but all the ice on the road and temps in the teens and twenties is too much for me.

I still can't get the call to put Delay in for Ellison. Will the Belmont game get cancelled?

Moved to April 28 at 5 p.m. Not surprised at all. Would make no sense to play a game in that kind of weather.

No home games at all this week as Vandy is now playing Indiana State this weekend down in Port Charlotte, FL.

This game has gotten just embarrassing. I have been surprised with the pitching though I hope the bats will warm up with time. Kili looked a lot better, but Ferg and Stone have lost their touch.

That was uglier than the Oregon rejects the basketball team wore.

I'm sorry to admit that I actually liked the unis. And I'm the old guy here...

Oh, don't get me wrong, I liked them as stand-alone uniforms. I did not like this as VANDERBILT uniforms. I love seeing different looks, but I hate when teams get away from their colors. I know VU has used flat yellow for stuff in the past, so for a throwback look I'd be fine with it. I just didn't like seeing us get away from black and gold as our colors just because we're blacking another "black and gold" (even though they use more of a standard yellow than the gold we use).

I'm with DotP. I've always hated using true yellow rather than gold for the unis.

Wiel! Grand slam in the bottom of the 7th to make it 8-6 for the gold guys. The ball hit the scoreboard. Boom!

I'm glad we were able to get so many young guys innings yesterday and today. I'm sure it helped Stone's confidence, and Sheffield was lights out. Ferg continues to have control problems, but hopefully he can work his way back to weekend play. Anyone know if Beuhler is good to go this weekend?

These young position players are pretty talented and are really pushing the older guys like Campbell, Coleman and Rogers for playing time. Liam and Jeren are hitting better than I thought they would this early in the season and it was only a matter of time for Toffey. Sheffield's stuff is electric and the 3 IP for Stone was a big boost. Corbin said the other day that Beuhler might get some spot work this weekend, not a start.
