It is amazing that student-athletes are not better public speakers considering that taking such a course (or series of courses) would provide them with easy boosts to their GPA while making them sound more educated in interviews/pressers.

If I were in charge I would mandate a whole slate for the off season classes so football players take it in the spring and basketball and baseball take it in the fall.
Communications 101 : basic public speaking and reading skills with appropriate writing basics
Wealth 101 : teach basic money and budget skills to avoid getting cleaned out by managers
Philosophy 101 : logic and basic critical thinking skills
Life 101 : basic social skills and time management so less Xbox and more real life
