Our OL is still suspect. And their QB is 5th in the nation in TDs and leading the SEC. If, and that's IF, we can't contain him, we are in trouble.

It's funny. Early this week I was pretty nervous and anxious, which I typically am for bigger games. Then midweek I had a sense of calm, and now late in the week I'm not really worried at all. There's just something about this team that kinda feels like the early Richt era. I don't care how good MSU has been on paper, or their stats, or their ranking...I just feel that we're flat out better than them and that we're going to win.

I'm surprisingly not worried, and I'm about as pessimistic as they come before any "big" game. Look what we did to Wimbush (I know Fitz is better but still). Defense will dominate and keep him contained all game. LSU is not a good football team, MSU will come in over confident, UGA takes care of business and puts them back in their place.

31-13 good guys.

Fritz's completion percentages are much better than ours, too...

The ONLY thing I'm concerned about is having a true freshman QB. That's it. Their DL may have a slight advantage over our OL, but we have enough weapons at RB/WR/TE that I feel comfortable enough with our offense. I think they're going to struggle to score on our defnese, which is the best I've seen in like 5 years. And finally we have excellent special teams play again. Throw in the fact we have a better top to bottom coaching staff (IMO) and it being at home at night and I'm good.

I think their DL has a huge advantage over our OL.

But we have playmakers.

Can we get the ball out quick enough?
Will we have the balls to run playaction with a true freshman?

Most importantly, will we be able to avoid negative plays (both running and throwing).

We might hold them to 7, 14, 21, or 28 (if we give them short fields, it will happen). Can we keep up offensively. Great defenses usually keep games close. I expect that. But I worry that our offense might give points. Their defense isn't bad.

Don't worry too much, I have a feeling Dan will pull a Mullen and beat us for you. Not saying MSU is the better team but, it's in his nature to NOT win games when he has a chance, no matter how small.

The only thing that worries me is our offensive play calling. Our defense is legit, but if they are on the field too long State will score a lot of points. Lets all hope Chaney earns his money this weekend

Agree to disagree. Our interior line has struggled against bad teams (tackles for a loss). They are not a bad team.

Good teams struggle of they can't win in the trenches.

I thought they did pretty good against Samford. I didn't see any struggle, we had a ton of yards on the ground.

O line tend to get better as the year goes on.

Its time for our 2 Senior Backs to do what they do and win this game

***after the opening couple of drives. Folded like a wet napkin multiple times to start the game then they seemed to get their shite together and what do you know- we can run the ball!

Samford had 5 tackles for a loss against us. That isn't 0 or 1 yard gains. Samford had 5 tackles for a loss.

I honestly don't know how many were late in the second half. But I would guess that that had about 3 against our 1st teamers (Samford is FCS).

To me the o line weakness is kendall baker. I saw him flat out wiff too much against samford and he's only 290 or so and I see him more as a tackle. O line saw improvement when Kindley returned against nd. Wynn is a good lt gaillard looks good at center. Thomas looks like a future hof.

This is essentially the biggest question I have. LSU got in trouble because of game flow dynamics. They are a team with middling QB play but generally good running ability. If anyone listens to the Glory UGA podcast, those guys seconded what I felt about the game which is that beyond the early penalties that cost LSU touchdowns, MSU getting the late TD in the first half to go from 10-7 to 17-7, then scoring early in the third to go up 24-7 really took LSU out of their element. They didn't outright abandon the run, but they couldn't play "their game" at that point. MSU then capitalized on that and stretched the lead a bit while LSU seemed to pack it in and fold, leading to the outlandish point differential.

I'd argue that while we may be "better" than LSU, we have the same fundamental flaw in that we can't get behind early. If we can limit early damage from Fitz and Co and put some points up early (TDs over FGs please!!!), the game becomes much more easily controllable. If we struggle to find the endzone early then it will be a lot of pressure on our defense to play mistake free... both assignment/tackling wise as well as penalties (tons of costly penalties from LSU last week to extend drives for MSU... not dissimilar to our game against ND).

I think we win, but if we struggle early on the offensive side of the ball, I think we go from a 60+% chance to win to 30-40%...

Likewise. I think these teams are pretty evenly matched and considering the recruiting rankings disparity it speaks to how Mullen is able to do more with less. I think the defenses are pretty evenly matched but Mullen's offense is better and I am concerned that their huge and more experienced QB will be the difference in the game. I guess I just don't have enough confidence in our OL and a Freshman QB to think that we will be able to outscore MSU.

Wimbush is twice the athlete white boy Fitzgerald is, we're gonna bottle his arse up and make everyone look foolish for being high on Mississippi St.
