Why does LSU think they are gonna make a homerun hire?

I mean they ended up with Kevin Steele the last time they made a big hire. And they landed Les Miles when they replaced Saban. Nothing stands out that they will hire a top notch coach outside of their optimism.

Their fans are more delusional than ours, and that's saying A LOT

Maybe thinking they'll improve on past mistakes? That would be my thinking if I was them.

That he lucked into. Any other year he's sitting at home. He's really just a luckier version of Richt.

Why do UGA fans think they are going to fire Richt and make an automatic home run hire?

2 pretty similar program profiles lately and both guys can't beat Saban. When you hop on the coaching carousel there are NO garuntees. Especially when replacing a coach who averages 10 wins a year.

Louisiana doesn't produce quite as many top recruits as Georgia but they produce a lot and LSU gets the cream of the crop. This is why LSU has been ranked top 5 in recruiting many seasons while UGA is more often than not top 10. If LSU can get a HC who can recruit as well as Miles, with a top OC and DC, they will be back on track. Honestly they should just keep Miles and get a good OC and DC and let those coordinators do the game management depending on which squad is on the field. Miles is a likable guy but he doesn't seem to be a very smart game manager.

Do you see UGA fans making multiple threads about who we're going to hire when we still have our coach? I've seen multiple LSU threads claiming Jimbo with Muschamp.

They have the talent base in that state but that doesn't mean they'll make the right hire.

Seems they're currently fixated on Jimbo Fisher. Is that considered a "home run"?

I don't if he's a homerun hire. Has he done much without Famous Jamous.

Yea I don't see the love for Jimbo. With that said I hope they fail miserably. I'd love this place if we had less cocky cajuns trolling all the time.

They have neither.

But Miles just can't let it go. He just has to meddle....and that is his weakness.

Did they not hire Saban? What about Les? I mean these guys have won Natty's.

Throw in that Louisiana has a lot of instate talent, that for the most part stays instate. I think they can be alright, eventually. Same with UGA. LSU may make some bad hires in hindsight, but they will get them another coach to stabilize the program. Same with UGA.

It doesn't have to be a home run hire. Just a good hire can duplicate the same results as Richt. 10 years without a SEC championship, 3 SEC East champs in the last 10 years, and 5 SEC East champs in Richt's tenure in a weak division to boot. Considering UGA usually having a top 10 recruiting rank, also UGA is only behind Miami, Bama, Ohio St, LSU in the nation with players in the NFL (beginning of 2015 season). The talent is not he issue, so what else could it be? Not having and indoor practice facility? IPF would have done us no good whatsoever vs Bama in the pouring rain or any other game in the rain. IPF is just fluff. If UGA wants to copy what everyone else has, then we need to fire Richt and get us a damn NC. Richt has proven that he can't get it done. The past 10 years has been a disaster compared to his first 5. He has regressed and 15 years is more than enough time to get er don.

I'm not saying they can't be great. I'm just wondering why they feel they'll make the homerun hire. History is not their side. They did hire Saban. But look who they hired before and after him.

If the boosters are paying a $15 mil buyout, they already have assurances that they will get "their guy".

No one pays a buyout like that without assurances.

There's no assurances in college coaching short of a signed contract.Dick Bestwick (Goff hire) and Mason (Donnan hire) both gave verbal assurnaces the were going to be the next HC at UGA and both backed out.
