bookmarked for 3 years from now when we are competing for the east..

We were competing against the east this year until we decided to scrimmage against Vanderbilt while they were playing a game. We are competing for the east every season until mid-october or so.

I think Smart will be fine but he has not bought any extra time this season....had he not lost to Vandy I think he has 5 years to win the SEC...not the east but the conference. I think that loss meant he has to win the east by year 3. Lose to Florida (most likely going to happen) and Tech and I think that SEC East title must turn into a SEC title or there wont be a year 4.

I'd also like to say if you fire a head coach in the first year, it isn't going to make good head coaches want to come to such a rabid fan base

No but millions of dollars will....

Demanding that someone excel at a new job immediately is insanity. There might be exceptions, like Herman or Fuente, but by and large you're likely going to be frustrated and disappointed.

WTF? If Smart had been hired as an apprentice and paid accordingly I would agree....however he is being paid a journeyman's wage....and performing like an apprentice.

I take you point and there is no way to hire a coach with paying the wages BUT you shouldn't be hiring a coach and paying those wages if you willing to accept performance that could come with lower wages...

Kirby's the head coach of UGA. Get over it and get behind him. He needs time, we beat Ufag and it's a moot conversation. That or you can bandwagon Bama. I despise bandwagon fans!

Wow. I'm pretty sure you were complaining about and criticizing Richt, now you are saying nobody can criticize Smart, or they are bandwagon fans?

Ok, WG. You tole me yesterday to compare first years with first years, so here I go:

quote:

-we lost at home at night to south carolina in a game we didn't score a touchdown. While down 6-7, we at long last moved the ball inside the SC 10 with under 3 minutes left and settled for a FG. We ended up losing.

He made the right call, right? Down by 1 inside the 10 with 3 minutes left? Kick it.

quote:

-we got shellacked by UF (who admittedly was a top 3 team in america) in a game that was never really close and we scored 1 TD.

Reminds me of the Ole Miss game, only Ole Miss isn't a top 3 team. They are a 3 loss team.

ETA
Florida is being shown as #6 on Wiki. And they beat us 24-10. Not too bad, really.

quote:

-lost at home to a 5 loss AU team because our rookie head coach decided to run the ball on their goal line with 10 seconds left and no timeouts and the clock ran out.

We lost to a BAD Venderbilt team.

quote:

-we lost to boston friggin college, in a game where instead of putting it away our rookie coach punted the ball back and saw BC drive down the field and take the lead with about 30 seconds left. BC led us in points, TOP, return yards, rush yards, and halved our penalties. Boston College.

Boston College went 8-4 that year, so....they were not a bad team.

quote:

Guess what? We went 13-1 the next year.

Shouldn't have put that. Everybody is going to expect us to go 13-1 next year and say you said so!

I hate for threads to be anchored...but I really do wish all threads with a title asking for Smart to be fired would be anchored. They are silly and only hurts honest dialogue.
