Can we please develop enough balance to give our future QB a chance to grow? Refusing to pass except on third and long puts too much pressure on a rookie QB.

Maybe we should develop our kickers better too?

Well we also wanted to win the football game. I'm not sure if you watched the game, but running the ball was the much more likely way for us to score more points than the other team.

Much better to tote the ball to win than chunking it....ain't but 3 things can happen when you throw it and 2 of em are bad.

That said we sure do love to follow the center....I bet Kublow are whatever his name is has so many cleat marks on his backside he can't sleep nights.....Jesus can we run a toss sweep once in a while?

And do we not gave a screen pass of any sort in the play book?

Wrong, there were only 17 attempts. There were 50 run plays. Fifty runs and seventeen passes is ultra conservative and there was only one pass on first down. Eason will never develop if games continue to be called so poorly. We all should be disgusted with the coaching.

South Carolina might be the first opponent that schemed for Eason, which might explain our ability to run the football so effectively.

He certainly didn't look sharp, but he learned a lot today, IMO.

You need a break from the board today.

First play of the game they showed cover 2 with safety's 12 yards back. Man on 16 in the slot, 3 man line with one LB 7 yards back and another 5. That is so different than I expected.

One of the plays that CMR used alot (too much IMO) was the quick out to Mitchell when the DB's were giving them too much cushion. He could usually be counted on making one guy miss. That was a once or twice a half play.

Yesterday they were giving IMac waaaaayy to much cushion in the slot IIRC. I'd like to see more quick passes like that to draw the defense in closer.

Also...if I don't ever see our 2 TE I formation with one wideout again - where we run right into 9 in the box - it wouldn't break my heart.

You don't run the out into cover 2... even if the slot is in man and off. Runs you right into the zone coverage.

Good to know.

Seems like there would be some way to take advanage of them playing so far off. Quick slant? The LB's were up too playing the run.

Slant /stop route etc... keeps the LBs from jumping the run too...

While I agree its way to early to Judge Eason, yesterday was a very bad day for him. That was a low I didn't even think was possible for him to sink to honestly. I'm hoping the leftover wind/sunday game thing had the effect, but Jacob Eason is going to have to become a better QB for us to beat UF and AU. AU's defense is coming around and we need to get markedly better and more balanced on offense as we move forward to have a chance in those games.

It looks like the running game is starting to fire back up, but we have to have Eason come along and get better week to week. Yesterday was a big step back.

From an X's and O's standpoint, does anyone know why he struggled so bad? I mean he over threw a ton of balls and missed some wide open guys. He probably left between 7-14 points on the field right before half time. All in his head?

We ran a lot of 3 man routes and they had lots of guys back in zone and combo stuff too. I don't think he was comfortable throwing it down field.

They went man when we got closer to the end zone. Worked well on 16s TD which was magic

I think he let the wind get in his head. Maybe overcompensated on the over throws. Just a guess, though.

2 problems Sunday. 1- the WR's weren't getting open very much. 2- When they did get open, Eason overthrew them several times.
