We will learn a lot about coaching here in the off week.

After watching like opponents struggle with sub par teams, our wins and losses seemed to feel even worse yesterday. I realize every game is different, but there are some things that can carry over.
The only win we can really hang our hat on was UNC. They are pretty good and that game seemed well coached. Going back to that game, I feel like we all felt like we were going to be pretty damn good this year. We were ranked pretty high and no one was bitching about the mythical lack of talent that seems to have plagued the team since then.
It seems to me something got lost along the way. It also appears that our run blocking scheme has been decoded on film and neutralized. We have a first round draft pick on the line and an all SEC and Rimington award watch list Center along with some talented players. Maybe not the depth or talent of Bama, but certainly more than many of the teams we will face or have faced. Much of the failures on the line are scheme and coaching. Any rational person with football knowledge should see this...
So now, we had an off week and two weeks to scheme for UF. Did we adjust our approach to run blocking? Did we fix what is broken and improve on our strengths?
This team was ranked high pre season because of the talent it had and an assumption that the coaches were top tier. No one was putting us on a five hundred season in August. The talent is there... not to beat Bama, but it's there to be a whole helluva lot better than what we have seen. We will learn a lot about our coaches. Can they make adjustments and use the prep time to improve this team's play on the field? I hope so.

I seen 8-4 predictions all over the place before the season started.

Now, it looks like it will take a really fired up blackout game to beat ULL to help Georgia finish 5-7.

It takes time to build, we knew that when Smart said most of our starters would be 2nd team players at Alabama. Smart hinted and flat out said we aren't very good the whole offseason, so let's give the man a chance.

It does take time to build but in this case it seems like he has torn down what was here for something worse. I'm giving him time, but he didn't take over a terrible program.

Clearly what Mark was doing wasn't working otherwise UGA would be on the same level as Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and LSU. Put our athletes on the same field with those teams and our guys are smaller and slower for starters. As outlined in several articles already there needs to be a culture change at UGA and that isn't happening till these Upperclassmen are gone. Smart and his staff isn't going anywhere so everyone might as well stop crying and get behind their football team for a change.

There's an old tale in Augusta, GA about a coach that could win the state championship and then turn around and beat his own players with the other team, Kirby ain't that guy

8-4 would be an accomplishment at this point, but that was on the low end of expectations and would have been considered crazy talk after the UNC game.

What players need a culture change and what aspect of the change are they fighting? Proof sources will help your case.

Seems to me that the problem isn't necessarily talent or the ability to coach fundamentals, technique, etc. (though Chaney's playcalling and scheming hasn't been all world either). Rather, the problem has been the level of give a shite which is both a player AND coach problem. This team is flatter than the chest of an anorexic runway model. No energy, no excitement. hell, there's no apparent frustration on the sidelines. Just guys going about business as usual, win or lose. This team hasn't had an ounce of decent player leadership since Murray left in 2013. Blame that on the abysmal 2013 recruitng class and all the coaching changes since then if you want, but it is what it is.
This team could be good and finish strong if it wanted to but I'm not sure it wants to.

Do you think most of these guys bust their asses at the level they are busting them and don't care?
Now, maybe the lack of team continuity has lead to frustrations.

Boss Andrews didn't lead in '14? Bitch all you want to about that year but we did
have a top 10 finish and beat 4 ranked teams.

So you assume that when the way of doing things drastically change, all 100% of the players just "buy in" and accept that. I've seen it happen in the workplace and it just doesn't happen that way. Older, more established are the hardest ones to change. Younger folks buy in more quickly because they don't know any other way. You can Coach/Manage all you want but there are some that just won't accept the change. ie Tim Kimbrough

John Deloach updates is a good starting point. Crying about a coach who hasn't even finished the season isn't helping your case either sir.

I think it's hard to not be disillusioned, exhausted, and burnt out when you're in your 3rd or 4th year, 2nd HC, 2nd or 3rd coordinator, 3rd S&C coach, etc. and half of the guys you came in with are now playing elsewhere (some of them like Wiggin, JHC, and Tray Matthews on teams that are playing a lot better than UGA is right now). I think now they're being asked to work harder than they ever have before because, well, that's the Bama Process we've adopted and these guys just don't want to do it anymore. I'm willing to bet a lot of them are over it at this point and the older guys that so still want to play just want to make it to the NFL so they can get a change of scenery and start over. That's not to say every guy on an 85 man roster feels that way but I'm willing to bet that enough do to the point that it's affecting the rest of the locker room.

8-4 and 9-3 seemed to be the norm.

What string do you suppose they would be at Vanderbilt?

Who?So he's up at Athens covering UGA FB every day?

How bout getting blown out by a above average Ole Miss team or almost losing to an obvoisly horrible Missouri or Nichols team? Not to mention the Vandy loss.Who's case is that helping?
So now the focus of this season is on the lack of leadership by the Jr's and Sr's?Deflect,deflect,deflect...

I have never assumed that nor stated they all should and will buy in. Every year at nearly every program, players come in and challenge for your spot. New position coaches come in. This is true at most schools. Obviously, this year had more change than average.
Still, the coach needs to work to get buy in.. be a leader and a motivator. I have coached and managed people in the business world and it can be a two way street with change. Change can reneegize guys who were in a rut.
As far as culture, this program has been running off a Bama blueprint for at least 3 years now. The players have said as much.

Ole Miss is 3-4 and has a very good chance of losing 2 more games, so that wouldn't make them above average. Average, at best.
