I know a lot of people realize this, but there are obviously some that don't and I'm speaking to y'all.

I'll start this by saying that I wanted Tom Herman hired over Kirby, and I do not think Kirby has done a great job so far, but we also have to look at what he inherited, and let him build the team in his way.

The recruiting class of 2013, which makes up the vast majority of seniors on this team, was one of the worst recruiting classes in the history of this program. There are only two top 250 players still on our roster; Brice Ramsey and Brandon Kublanow.

We also have many glaring weaknesses on the team that have formed because of poor recruiting, especially on the offensive line. Here is the recruiting ranking of the players we have signed on the OL since 2013:

4* T (top 100)
4* C (top 250)
4* G (top 250)
4* T (top 250)
4* T (top 250)
4* T
3* T
3* T
3* T
3* T
3* G
3* G
3* G

So in summary, we have one top 100 player, and four other top 250 players. Six 4-stars, and seven 3-stars in total. Our current offensive line class has two top 100 players, one other top 250 player, and one 3* tackle. We are showing improvement already in the offensive line recruiting.

On our current roster we have two top 250 receivers, and three top 250 defensive backs from our 2013-2015 recruiting classes. The talent just isn't there right now, and I really do believe Kirby is going to bring in that needed talent for us.

Our schedule is incredibly weak, and if we could finish the season with 8 or 9 wins, that will be good enough to keep a good recruiting class. I'm hopeful Kirby will grow as a head coach the more experience he gets, and our coaching staff will mesh the more they coach together.

I agree that we have to give him time, but he has to improve every bit as much as the players do.

Nobody gets a pass for today's performance. Nobody.

That said, if the upset Tennessee, all sins will be forgiven.

Saban took over a shitty UA team and took them to the SEC champ in year two. They had less talent than we need.

Meyer tok over an OSU program on probation. Took them them to the Big Ten Champ in year two.

Chip Kelly took Oregon to a championship game in year.

Richt did too.

We did not hire Kirby to give him time, we hired him to improve on what Richt did. And he needs to do that fast.

Saban's first year at LSU, he went 8-4 including a loss to UAB.

Saban's first year at Bama, he went 6-6 including a loss to La Monroe.

It takes time to build a program.

I'm not saying Kirby is going to be the next Saban, but I am saying it's too early to judge either way.

Funny, all the coaches you speak of win by recruiting, not coaching. Maybe Smart can recruit well enough to cover for the shite coaching job on the field. ..

The SEC West really sucked that year, and Saban ended up getting beat by Florida in the SECCG and then lost to Utah in the bowl game.

You need a break, K9. You've probably been drinking all day.

Both programs were abysmal when Saban got there. Not a comparable program to UGA

Anyone who expected Cleveland to be SEC ready had a severe case of mental retardation. He has the size and strength but he played DE all through high school. He's raw as hell but has the potential to be an All-SEC interior lineman.

So is that the bar?

That was Saban's 8th year as a head coach.

He won his first NC in his 4th year as a head coach at LSU.

This is Kirby's first year.

See my post above about how Saban's first years went.

And go ahead and text Macy and Kaitlyn and see if they want to meet up at 5 Spot in the morning and talk about how crazy life is.

Kelly is probably the best QB we'll face all season, but I'm really not liking Kirby's defense right now.

I get that we have some young linemen, but the entire defense is so slow in both reacting and pursuing. Zo Carter doesn't set the edge and even when he does get to the QB, he can't bring him down. I also don't understand playing Natrez Patrick in space against these spread teams when he could be making an impact as an edge rusher. Other than Trent, we don't have a guy in the front seven who is consistently making a difference. I wonder how effective some of them would be in a different scheme.

Even at Alabama when CKS had an abundance of talent, he still struggled to stop these spread offenses. I just hope he isn't stubborn and is actually willing to change it up on defense to suit his players.

Lorenzo tackles at people's necks every time. His form is horrible and easily fixable. I'm definitely not a huge fan of the defense so far, but I'm hoping that with time it gets better.

I also hate that we threw the ball 36 times today. We should have run off tackle all day.

At what point do we say he isn't coaching up the talent he has available? Not only him, but the whole staff.

I'm in 100% agreement he needs time and I'm not going to pass judgement until I see his recruits come through and grow.

If this is the shite we put on the field two years straight, then there's cause for alarm.

Everyone should've seen today coming.

Yet, both would've beaten the 2015 Georgia Southern team in regulation.

Wait, they say the coaches lost to UAB and La Monroe and your response is they would have beaten GA Southern in regulation? fricking brilliant retort sir.

We should have never hired Smart. Yes it is good we got rid of Richt however rarely does it seem that hiring defensive coaches works out. Obviously Saban was an exception but Smart is not as good as Saban.
We should have hired an offensive minded coach. Herman of course would have been great but any competent offensive coach would have been better than Smart.
We will end up looking back on Smart as our Muschamp type hire.
However I do not regret firing Richt and though in the short term we will have pains in the long run we will be much better for it.

I think Smart will be ok but we gotta hire a home run to run the offense It ain't Chaney. I really wish Bobo would of stayed I had really started to enjoy his play calling the last couple years.
