Wow. I wonder if they'll put bleachers in the endzones. Looks like about a hundred yards from the "goalposts" to the track.

Bruton Smith's been trying to put that matchup
together for years...always been on the drawing
board.

I remember hearing about this being in the works but how bad will the view be?

I know Daytona is trying to work out something like this as well. Back when I was still in job hunt mode, I made final interviews with ISC and they wanted me to help draw up some proposals for how they could get college football games into all their tracks. Just not sure I see the value in going to a game where the field is almost a football field away from my seat... they'll have to do something to improve the experience IMO.

The view wouldn't be that bad. I bet they do something like the NCAA tournament in the GA Dome and move the field to one end. Also just the fact that this has been rumored for over 12+ years will get the fans super excited and sell tickets. The location is amazing for both schools. The whole tri-cities area is either a Vols or Hokies fan. Both teams are followed by the news stations. Both teams have their broadcast on the radio.

Bristol already knows how to handle the traffic and the 100k+ fans from years of practice. If there's one thing Bruton knows how to do, it come up with a way to make everyone want to come to this game. He will have his engineers craft something for the stadium to seat 150k+ fans and everyone will have a good view.

Do what? The Dome has half house seating during
the NCAA tournament. That would defeat the whole purpose of playing in front of 150K+ plus fans.

It looks like a logistical nightmare if they want to
move the fans closer to the field (infield). Honostly
don't think either of these yahoo fan bases will care
as long as they get to go to Bristol and drink beer
during a CFB game.

The forgotten game–Bristol Motor Speedway

It’s a game that is rarely talked about, but it did happen. The year was 1961 and the game was between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles. It took place in the infield of Bristol Motor Speedway. The game celebrated its 5oth anniversary two years ago we were lucky enough to catch up and talk with the starting tailback for the Eagles, at the the time, Billy Ray Barnes. Barnes says he doesn’t remember much.

I'd rather get in the ring with a coked up mike tyson than watch Tennessee play Va Tech at Bristol. Can you imagine what that crowd will look like? One full set of teeth between all 150k of them...

They should play a football game there......AND have a race....................AT THE SAME TIME!

And when the game and race are both over......the winning team then fights the top ten cars and their crews to the death.

THis could be the future of sports, right here.
