Soooo... We have $77 million in our Athletic Dept reserve fund, including $32 mil that we just really didn't want to talk about being there. The new IPF is great, it really is one of the best facilities of it's kind. GO DO THAT WITH OTHER FACILITIES. Stop polishing the Stegman turd, get serious about renovating Foley or building an entirely new stadium, and, for the love of God, can we get a fricking waterfall in our locker room because apparently that means a lot to recruits. I love how McGarity always talks about how we don't have the funds for facility upgrades yet were sitting atop one of the largest war chests in the entire fricking nation. Jews get a really bad rap for their love of money, I'm going to start calling greedy people "McGarity's" instead. I understand you always want to keep reserves on hand incase something bad happens; yeah, I totally get having $20-$30 mil in reserves. $77 million is just ri-goddamn-diculous.

You had me until waterfall in the locker room probably the dumbest thing I've read on here this year. That includes Meansonny's posts...

Two things, if recruits like it I don't give a shite if it's a 30 foot chocolate fountain with marshmallow seats. And meansonny knows his shite. Not sure your grief with him.

I don't have anything against him, I just couldn't really think of anyone else. I was being a bit hyperbolic...

Our "rainy day" fund is built so that Georgia football can continue through nuclear war, Biblical apocalypse, etc.

There won't be anyone else to play, so we'll be national champs by default. McGarity's just playing the long game.

The whole idea is that if we have to pay our players one day because the NCAA inevitably loses its lengthy court battles, we'll be able to do so without skipping a beat. And by skipping a beat, I mean we will still have fairly meh facilities across the board but at least we will be compliant with the law and the athletic overlords can keep their 6 figure salaries

This was going on long before McGarity got here and will continue long after he's gone. If "good enough" keeps us awash in cash why change? 8-3 is awesome. Embrace the mediocrity!

Yea, but its a different world these days with the insane amount of TV revenue coming in and how much all our rivals our spending on facility upgrades.I'll give VD credit for Butts-Mehre...it was pretty innovative at the time and required $$ and forward thinking.

The BM and the MAC were both on the higher end of facilities at the time... and then you go to our "training table" which was unscientific and just plain crap. Both in quality and nutrition. There was just stuff like that... and then you get to Adams and him moving money from the AD to the General Fund, while at the same time taking donations from people that were allegedly earmarked for the AD...

That was a joke. Bama (I'm pretty sure it's Bama, at least) has a waterfall in their locker room. One of the big programs does. But 17 and 18 year old kids love gimmick shite like that. They think it's cool. Facilities aren't meant to pander to you and I, they're there to make 18-22 year old guys happy. So... waterfall that bitch up.

Emerson wrote an article on it. He tweeted the link and that's how I found it. That $77 mil includes the $32 mil that has been "invested" in the general fund but is still allocated as AD funds, so could be used if needed.

I'll say this much, USC is putting MAJOR money into upgrading all of their facilities. Bama and TAMU are constantly upgrading their facilities. If we sit on our hands and continue to hoard money like a bunch of fricking dwarves in a Tolkien novel, then we're going to find ourselves in a pretty shitty situation. We've been playing catch-up for way too long.

It is Bama. Seems to be working out OK for them. Barstool saying that a waterfall "was the dumbest thing he's seen" is pretty much the dumbest thing I've seen. We all know what the waterfall represents.

I'm sure the interest on that $35M is going all back to the AD at market rates

The only reason the Steg got upgraded during Dooley was the Olympic $$$. That would have been a prime time to go balls deep for the hoops program and we missed it. Maybe someone else can remind me, but once we moved our training stuff over to the BM, they didn't do shite at Stegman until the sprucing up before the Olympics. ..and then again, other than minor stuff, nothing until they fixed up the outside.

Adams was nothing more than a prick and a whore. A money grubbing whore. And not afraid to lie, or at least spin half truths, to get paid.
