Let's hope Nauta doesn't read the ABH.

UGA offensive coordinators also on pace for least amount of criticism in Mark Richt era.

Thoughts?

But Schotty is an NFL guy who knows how to get the most out of the tight end position....or maybe are qbs just suck.

No, frick that. With the exception of 1 game, our play calling has sucked a fat dick. We downgraded at the OC position.

Yep. This was always the likely outcome after we lost a record-setting OC, despite how people deluded themselves into thinking he somehow sucked.

True. But so many on here won't even take into account just how crappy the QBs are. Funny how such is conveniently forgotten.

Bobo , while having his own issues, makes Schotty look like an inept retard trying to frick a balloon covered in lube.

The guys sucks and we should have listened to the warnings from the NFL fans.

Even with a crappy QB...not throwing to the Tight Ends (arguably one of the highest percentage throws in Football) and continuously running Michel up the gut when Chubb goes down was just retarded.

In defense of Schottenheimer, Michel can run it up the gut plenty well. If we can't get that working, nothing in UGA's offense will work.

I know he can, but with it not working, we should have deviated somewhat. His play calling became laughably predictive in that game.

But but but Blowbo!!

Jesus Christ, our fanbase has got to be the most fricking retarded fanbase in the entire country.

Let's just assume that Schottenheimer isn't a total idiot. In that case, I would submit that either our OLine needs the help so we can't release the TE because if there's any pressure at all Lambert gets squirrelly, Lambert isn't finding them when they are open or they're being covered and Lambert isn't going to throw into anything tight.

The lack of TE play is a further indictment of our OLine and QB IMO.

I feel like Shotty and Bobo's play calling is very similar. Run it up the middle over and over again. Then have a sudden spurt of genius and call a decent drive and make us forget how bad alot of the calls are. We were in here bitching about this alot the many previous years Blowbo was calling plays.

Run-heavy pro-style offenses are, clearly, predicated on the run. Yes, Bobo would call a lot of plays between the tackles but the toss-sweep, counter, and running off-tackle was also a staple of our offenses under him. In his early years it was a little touch-and-go and he received some well deserved criticism, but he really grew as a play-caller in his last few years. We've rarely seen the toss sweep or an outside run with Schotty and our screen game has been almost non-existent.

Honestly, I think Mason and Lambert are pretty comparable QBs but Bobo put Mason in a spot where he could succeed. Lambert lacks some of Mason's poise but he has a slightly better arm, I just don't think Schotty has worked up a good enough scheme to really get Lambert comfortable; USC and Southern are the exceptions, and both of those teams were simply overmatched.

I think the main difference is that Lambert is less accurate than Mason. Last year Mason only had two games out of eleven vs power five schools with under 60% completion (Auburn 52.6% and Arkansas 58.8%) Lambert has already had 3 games with under 55% (Vandy 52.4% Bama 41.7% Tenn 46.9%)

Sure, some of Lambert's accuracy issues can be attributed to the play calling but even if you look at how he performed last year at UVA you will see that he struggled with accuracy there as well. In the eight games vs power five schools that Lambert started last year he only finished two games above 60% and right at 60% once.

It's not an easy read or throw to a TE a lot of the time. You gotta throw over or between LBs most of the time.

I talked to someone the other day who still thought Bobo was a bad coordinator and wished we would have fired him sooner. At that point, I just think you lose all credibility as a knowledgeable fan.

offense now resembles richt's playcalling before Bobo became of age. Richt would keep TE's to block. He wasted Ben Watson for an entire season doing this. We're back to pre Bobo years, imo
