Not the team, but the fans. Damn this board is littered with pussies and not the good kind. Maybe UGA needs to offer safe spaces.

The entire program is a laughing stock. We fired one of the most successful coaches in school history and hired some guy with no record, on the assumption that he can recruit his way to greatness.

Note to Georgia; the head coach needs to know how to coach first and foremost. Good recruiting will follow a good coaching hire, not the other way around.

Please see Fox and retract your statement.

I don't follow basketball so can't comment on that. But I'm pretty sure if Georgia had made a good football coaching hire, we could recruit very well from this state alone. Make a bad coaching hire and recruiting will become very difficult.

If we continue this kind of play for the rest of the year, there's trouble ahead. Right now the big question is whether Smart's 2016 team believes in him or his staff. He might want to stop trashing our talent in the media and try to regain their trust by taking a little blame himself, at least in private meetings with the team.

Everyone knows we let him be average for the last ten years because of the 2 championships in his first five.

Hey Einstein. 'Safe spaces' are sanctuaries for sensitive snowflakes that can't handle opinions that conflict with their own naive pie-in-the-sky shallow wittle feewings....

Which is exactly what you, yourself, are calling for.

fricking idiot.

So, if our former head coach was such a great coach why did we consistently finish behind other programs in the SEC?

We usually finished ahead of Vandy

Keep telling yourself that if you like, but he averaged 10 wins over the last 5 years too, finished top 5 once and top 20 a couple more. The great majority of football programs don't consider that "average" and I'm guessing it'll look pretty good to Georgia fans in two or three years.

But we didn't always beat them under Mark. And once when we did we were elated enough to dance on their 50.

Marl Richt was done at UGA...he was going through the motions...we did him a favor and did ourselves a favor in the process. You can't ever succeed in life if you never take any chances. Smart was probably a bad hire....but letting Richt go was not a bad fire....it was time. You can't have an employee going through the motions and giving your brand a black eye in the process.

UGA is a second tier SEC team. With our schedule we should NEVER lose more than 4 games. We have never been at the top of the football world but what. 3- 5 years in 100 + years of playing the game. It is time we either realized that and be satisfied with the SEC Title every 20 years or so OR make the effort to get to the next level. getting rid of Mark richt was a step in the right direction

Blame that on easy schedules. We had 2 Unranked seasons in 5. Not even donnan did that bad.

I think that started last year, though, didn't it? You know when this exact type of melt happened when we had a 10 win season?

Dude...this schedule is tougher? We are struggling against Nicholls, Vanderbilt and South Carolina.

We have already lost as many as we did last year, and still have Auburn, Florida and GT left. And yes, at this point Kentucky is making me very, very nervous.

I am saying fortuitous schedule breaks enabled average at best Uga teams to get some wins in the past 5 seasons.

If by average you mean he came within a hairs breadth away from playing for the National Championship twice, then I will take average. (granted 2002 was not in the last 10 years, but 2012 certainly was.) I think you way overstate some of your "facts" to suit your narrative.

For the record....Richt averaged 9.3 wins in his last 10 years with Georgia. Hardly average, unless you want to say we are way below average this year.

What about this year? Easy schedule or a tough schedule?

The coach with the highest winning percentage in the history of the school should have resigned after a 10 win season?
