Today we signed a 6'8 230lb PF. Pretty big deal. The comparisons are similar to Derek Ogbeide but this guy supposedly played on one of the best Prep School teams in the country. Probably won't be a dominate player in the next two years but the depth he will provide will be good. Mike Edwards will have to step up his production or sit the bench. This guy will rebound.

Just looking at this recruiting class, it's a pretty good one when you measure our losses with our signings.

Losing JJ Frazier; bringing in a 6'4 PG
Losing Brandon Young; bringing in a national top 50 at SF.
Losing Houston Kessler; bringing in a 6'10 F who can shoot and stretch the floor. (Should not play a lot at all next year.)

Losing Kenny Paul Geno; bringing in a 6'8 big man is who somewhere between the freshman versions of Yante and DO.

Lost a lot of dead weight but we've brought in guys who can help the team in some form or fashion. Their playing time will really depend on how quickly they pick up the system and how hard they play. I look for 2 of the 4 to really play and help next season. They still setup well to increase competition and the level of play compared to the previous years.

Even if Fox doesn't get retained at the end of the year, the level of talent is much improved from top to bottom in comparison to when Fox came in.

I think Hightower and Hammonds will play and help this year. Potentially good class. All 4 will be freshmen but 2 from prep school so hopefully a little more developed and ready to play. We will be deep this year numbers wise, cut the dead weight but our backcourt makes me nervous. Turtle, Crump and Hightower (freshman) the only true guards. Also have Parker and Harris who are very nervous ball handlers.

In 20 years basketball won't even be televised. Nobody gives a shite. It is a dying sport. Baseball is next.

Parkers playing time is rather questionable due to another Achilles injury. Maybe a good thing especially against the top tier teams because he is noticeably slower.

I'm surprised that you think Hightower will play. I just figure Crump and turtle will have a tight grip. No doubt he will push them both to get better and play harder. I like kante to play because Edwards sucks. He will either continue to suck or get better ESP as a rebounder. Kante gives us a big to come off the bench and rebound. Would've won the Florida game last year if he was on the team then.

Don't know about that. I can't speak for anyone else but I definitely have lost interest in pro sports in general. The fairly recent politicizing of sports certainly hasn't helped their TV ratings. I do think that college sports including basketball will remain viable and might actually increase in popularity as professional sports decline.

I can handle losing 5 stars to Duke, UK, and the likes. But it pisses me off losing them to AU and Bama.

I will give Parker credit, he has developed a terrific mid range touch and is our best FT shooter. That said I agree he looks slow at times and surprises me he has no 3 point range and is a concern in ball handling and decision making. We need to improve big time in that area with JJ gone.

Edwards has huge athletic potential but hasn't seemed to harness it or gain much body control. Improved his FTs a lot freshmen to sophomore year so hopefully he improves in other aspects. Hopefully Kante can help there. Will be interesting to see where we play Hammonds, he is long and athletic, too good to keep off the court.

I don't think Hightower will play a ton but think he is definitely in the rotation. If Crump and Turtle play together at all we will need a 3rd ballhandler that can sub in off the bench. I think Crump and Turtle will have to play together (and can effectively) to handle the ball and provide more shooting to put teams in a bind trying to defend us inside.

Excited about all the options, we will be deep. Nervous about our thin backcourt and Fox not narrowing the rotation early enough or figuring out where to play guys and with what combinations to win.

Parker has definitely developed in his time but I think his achillies injuries have slowed him down. I like him as a player but against higher caliber players there is a noticeable difference. I can't believe he can't hit a 3pt but he sucks. Shot looks good but he is terrible beyond the arc.

Edwards is a decent athlete and he shows potential but his production just hasn't developed where we thought it would. Especially as a rebounder. He has moments where it's like he's coming and other times where it's like ft him out.

The Hammonds thing will be interesting especially with Toe developing and I like Diatta and think he has really good skills. I could see his playing time something like Jordan Harris but he is bigger and probably stronger than Harris.

NFL numbers have been dropping pretty steadily for a while. Nothing catastrophic - at least not yet, but still...

It is pretty exciting to get rid of Kessler and KPG and replace them with at least players who have talent. We are still gonna miss on players and guys won't pan out, but frick it's nice to have people who have a shot.

Plus yante didn't get invited to the combine, so we have an all American on our team next year

The depth that we have in the front court is pretty awesome. We will have a really solid Jr and a great Sr who can mentor these younger guys. That should help us in the front court for the next several years. Still would like to sign one big next year.

Plus the fact they have some diversity in their skill sets and Kante is a year older than a typical freshman.
