Sure... I was using their NIT bid as indication that they weren't a significantly worse team than they were the prior season (missed the tournament but were a bubble team and had a better record than the previous year as well) but had a pretty substantial dropoff. On top of that, they made it to the tournament the year before though, after having missed it for the previous 5 seasons.

Not sure what else would have been the cause other than either a) lackluster home game schedule or b) extra home games during the NIT and not great attendance (which is expected as you mentioned).
