It's been like this for as long as I can remember. Can anyone explain why UGA gets zero love on any sports network? Take last nights game for example. We dominated Kentucky defensively and had several big plays, but all ESPN can talk about is how Kentucky wasn't playing to their level and how their kids don't want to be coached.

They interviewed Calipari and some of their players, but nothing about UGA other than it was considered Kentucky's "bad loss".

Football is the same way. When we win, big games it's because Florida (or whoever) turned the ball over 6 times. Zero mention of our D stepping up and creating the turnovers they needed to win the game. When we stomp Carolina it's 2 seconds of "well that is expected", but when Carolina blasted us last year, I heard about it for the rest of the season.

Is it because UGA just isn't flashy which isn't good for their ratings? We really, REALLY need to bring home a Crystal Football.

Eehhh, I KIND OF agree with you, but not totally. We do seem to get slighted sometimes in the media, but there's plenty of times where they pump us up too. Every media outlet in the country was gaga for gurley last year. Murray got a lot of love too.

Didn't they replay Kentucky on ESPN today? & didn't they hype Murray with an interview during that game? and Bob Knight even stated UGA vs Bama was the real National Championship.. What else ya want?

Because the cater to the big fan bases. It's smart for them to do this so they can bring in more money but it's frustrating if you're not a fan of a few teams like OSU, Mich, ND, USC, Bama, or UF in college football.

I kind of like it. Seems like every time they hype us up we show up with our asses on our shoulders and stink up the place. It almost seems like we need them to act like we don't stand a chance for us to stand a chance.

Alot of it is just fan perception.

HOWEVER, I do believe we pay some price for the fact that we lose big just about every time they pump us to our max. I mean, they still talk about the Bama black out. They never mention a Florida or LSU loss from 5 years ago.

If I'm not mistaken, UGA is considered a "large fan base"

We travel much better than Florida ever will.

This is all horseshite. The media loves UGA.

The scenario-based examples like Kentucky Basketball or the Florida turnovers have elements of truth to them, and the examples that aren't truth-based are just at-large examples of sports media people not doing their homework; not having any idea what the hell they are talking about. That happens to all teams.

You put Bama and Georgia side by side on just about any given topic and no frickin way UGA gets more love from the talking heads. No fricking way.

Georgia hasn't won 3 out of 4 of the last National Championships.

20oz (sigh) said something right.. it's time to win a National Championship.

Until then, the media will continue to love Richt, love our quarterbacks, love our mascot, love our traditions and rivalries, and love our town.

It may be large in the sense of total numbers, but it is concentrated in one region. The number of schools with truly national fan bases is pretty low: Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas...maybe one or two more, and that's about it.
