Yep, we're worse now than we we were in 2005 Program hasn't improved at all. It's DEFINITELY not a case of the entire conference getting better across the board. Nope, not that.

Mizz has matched us, pathetic.

I wasn't aware Mizzou has also won the conference twice in the past 14 years. Weird.

Richt has proved time and time again that he can't win the big game.

Not disagreeing.

this has been the problem in Athens for a long long time..we replace Dooley with Goff..GOFF ?!?! then keep him around too long..Richt wasn't even a HC before he came to UGA. The basketball program has always hired small college HCs who are clueless in recruiting ...thank god for men's tennis where we have one of the all time greats as a HC..

So what you are saying we have won the SEC championship in the past 10 years? I'm just not remembering it correctly? How can you say we have improved since our last SEC Championship? Our SEC Championship was our peak. Until we met or surpass that, then we have not improved. If you don't agree, how can we do worse than what we did in 2005 and call that improving?

Who said 14 years? I said the last 10 years, Mizz has won the East the same amount of us. In fact they won the East every year they've been in the SEC. The past 10 years Mizz has won the EAst the same amount as us with less talent. Pathetic.

That is horseshite. UGA can get any coach they want. The key word is want. But the administration has got to WANT to get it done.

I am soooooooooooooo tired of the we could do worse mentality.

frick that.

I agree that arguments bullshite.

The issue here is - as some feared - we caught a fully motivated and amped AL team that couldn't afford another loss. CMR has proven that he can't handle that but damn....short of Urban Meyer who has shown they can play at that level consistently? This game just proved what none of us wanted to admit ...we're not at their level.

What we need to do to get there is the question.

You're right. A 2-loss UGA team beating an injured LSU squad and getting the brakes beat off of us against West Virginia in Atlanta was the pinnacle of the program and we've done nothing to surpass that since. I'm so dumb. The 2-loss 2007 and 2012 teams were definitely no better and the 10-3 2014 team (same record as 2005) certainly was way worse. Recruiting has clearly taken a sharp nosedive since 2005, as too have failities. We can't get any big coaches to come here and help out. We've just been getting worse every year since 2005.

Oh, nevermind the fact that my original quote was that we were improving at smaller increments RELATIVE TO OTHER PROGRAMS.

quote:

Mizz has won the East the same amount of us.

And tell me about all the tough teams they had to play to get to those title games (which they lost convincingly, mind you). And who they lost to. I'll wait.

Well shite. We didn't win the East in 2012? Damn...

I agree. Hell when Richt was hired he was unproven as a head coach and was just a OC or qb coach. We took a chance with Richt and it worked out for a few years (2002-2005), so we could do the same again or even better. With the talent we produce we could land a top tier coach that much we know for sure. I don't see how people can call Pruitt and Shotty as great hires, but we couldn't do the same with a head coach?

Bringing in a new coach with a different attitude and perspective can be a positive addition to a program. I know it's early, but coach McElwain looks to have revitalized an underperforming Florida. Dan Quinn has the Falcons headed in the right direction as well.

I'm not saying Georgia should fire Richt though. It's a tricky situation to be in.

This all reminds me of the aftermath of the 2012 USC game. We went on the win the East and almost the SECCG.

That bought Richt another few years.

Here we are in a similar situation.

Will Richt buy himself a few more years by winning out and taking us to the SECCG again? And winning it this time?

If not, I'm with the Fire Richt crowd.

10 years without an SECC, at Georgia (not Kentucky or USC or Vandy), then we need a change.

I'm with you Fin, Richt is a shithole coach and will never amount to shite. Mark my words. He's a good QB coach and good OC, Dooley should have never hired his arse but Glen MAson (another bad hire) played midnight rider and ran away in the middle of the night. UGA has all the talent and resources to win big, NC big they just have to make a smart HC hire next time. Time for RIcht to go. Fire his arse NOW!!

Still love em

GO DAWGS

FIRE RICHT!

He doesn't deserve the RIGHT to coach this talented team any more! Just go the hell away!

My bad, so it is 2 out of 3 years. Better than 2 out of 10 years.

Does it matter? They won and represented the East and sure they got beat bad, but Mizz still won the East and we didn't.

So winning the SEC championship isn't a measuring stick? Richt has always preached about winning the SEC and everything else will take care of itself. So obviously to Richt and the team, winning the SEC is the GOAL. We haven't done that since 2005. So yes we have not done better than that season which was win the SEC. Who cares if the records are better if we still don't win the East or the SEC? Moral victories means a lot for you I guess?

Our recruiting is on the up, I'll admit that, but Richt still can't win the big games. Sure he wins some of them, but loses most of the big ones (especially here lately).

We've won the SEC twice in 33 years. That is the fewest SEC titles of any of the schools who have won the SEC since 1982. The gap between us and the next closest team which has won the SEC since 1982 is larger than the gap between us and Vandy, UK and the Mississippi schools. In other words over the last 33 years we are closer to Vandy than Auburn......Go Dawgs!

Key difference is the SC sucked that year and didn't do shite outside of kicking our arse. We had more talent at every position except Lattimore and Clowney. That was a game we should've dominated.

Richt will retire from UGA at the time of his choosing. The admins and fan base are completely OK with the occasional 6 - 6 to a more often 7 - 5, 8 -4, 9 -3, 10 - 2. Championships matter not. They just are not in the equation. It is not even debatable. Hell, one SECC in ten years is damn near the law of averages based on number of teams prior to the recent addition of AM and Missou. That is the true definition of mediocrity.

Fannies in the seats and contributions matter, and they do matter, and that is still happening.

incorrect. the Mason deal occurred before the Donnan hiring. Goff introduced him to the team and everything.

Being at the game, my opinion is we got behind and panicked. After the penalty on the kick to tie, we caught a penalty and pissed our pants. Bama's defensive scheme wasn't worried about our passing game. They seemed to commit to stopping the run by having the d-line hold our o-lines blocks and letting the backers and secondary get the tackles. They walked up and cheated on the run all day. I've been the biggest "GL has the experience and won the job" and "he is the guy" guy and seeing him live was horrible. He was timid and had happy feet and seemed scared to make a mistake and that cost us. That said, Ramsey isn't any where near being "the guy" either. How the frick we do not have a quality QB on our roster amazes me....but this is the first time I've been embarrassed in Athens and it sucks balls.
