Transferring of season tickets

So I've been told in the past that you can't transfer or pass down season tickets and I just wanted to confirm that. I figure it's because they rather folks donate more to get seats people have had for years but I know some schools do let you "inherit" seats.
Reason I ask is becayse I currently use my grandparents seats and instead of paying them and coordinating through them I'd like to just own them outright one day

You can. I'll type more when back to a comp

Yeah, I'd like to know how because I called last year and they said NO.

You planning to maintain their contribution level or lower it?

I'd like to match it but I'll have to make sure I can afford it. I want to maintain what they've done. Family has had the seats since 1981 and I'd like to have them for my family one day

So to my knowledge there isn't a way to bequeath tickets in your will or anything like that. However, season ticket holders have the option to make a ONE TIME change in your account holder name. I know this because we just did it. My uncle started our family's account back in the 70s when he worked for Coca Cola and Coke would match 2 for 1 on us every year. Our points built up considerably but they're old now and probably won't go/contribute/be around much longer. In order to keep all our points in our family for a long time, we changed our account name this year and put it in my 8 year old cousin's name. So I imagine you can do something similar where you keep your grandparent's account and their accumulated points, only it'll now be in your name and your responsibility.

You can. If you have given $1 million dollars over the last 5 years. Otherwise, you are screwed

This. WG, you may have a different set up given the corporate connection that allowed you to exploit some sort of loophole. But they have now made it so that you have to be in the Silver Circle (or something like that) by way of donating $1 million+ to then have the privilege of being able to pass on your points to the next generation.
So, get busy earning and donating or get busy purchasing a comfy couch upon which to watch from home

Yea when my mother asked about it when my great grandmother was sick they said sure if you have a million dollars to give.

Keep the account in his name. Transfer all the information (payment, address, login, etc) into your information. They will always be in his name, but you will have complete control. You just wont earn any lifetime donation for yourself or be able to get the tax breaks...

Win the lottery or start donating a couple hundred a year. It's your only hope and even then you're probably not getting their seats when they're gone.

This seems like the most logical means of accomplishing this. It's not like they're ever going to check to see if they are deceased. I have a rental property that was my mother's home and according to the mortgage and property records, it still belongs to her. I simply manage it through the estate. At the end of the day, they don't care where the money comes from; they just want the money to come.

This. You may be able to setup an LLC or something in his name if you wanted to try and make it more concrete. Legalzoom or whatever other online option could probably be used for a couple hundred bucks. I know my family (Clemson) did this to pool together their donations and ensure that all parties had access in the event that one family member were to pass. Not sure how that would be handled from the UGA side, but would be my recommendation.

Definitely something to consider. I'd hate to lose these seats one day and now that I'm about to a point that I can take the seats in willing to do whatever to keep them. Just seems like outside of having my grandparents own them until they're 175 I'm hosed

The LLC option is intriguing. Wonder if you could get a ticketing or development official to answer the plausibility of that off the record

SEC schools are getting wise to methods such as these (LLC, not telling them a family member died, will, divorce settlement) and you need to investigate or you will be in hot water when you get caught.
Basically you have to figure what the seats are worth to a new donor around you. If the seats cost grandpa 500 per to get back in the 1970's now sell for 100K then either you pony up and keep them of you lose them. It is not what you did in the past anymore but all about the future Benjamin's.
Good luck

Yea, that's the thing, I know there isn't anything in terms of loyalty to use and that it makes more sense for the school to take our seats back and then get other donors to drop bank on them. Sucks but I get it.
Sadly, or really pretty awesome, my grandparents had some pretty fantastic seats. No way I could afford the donor level at this point in my life. Hell, with the way it's gone up idk if I ever could.
