I am going to take a different approach and start with saying that Philips sucks and the Omni was great.
Secondly the construction of a new arena provides both jobs and revenue for many different businesses in our state and will continue to provide expanded tax revenue for the people....
Location is the issue I personally have with Phillips and I would like to see the new roost built over on Fulton Industrial Blvd with a direct MARTA train stop inside it.
Phillips can become the "new" underground Atlanta" Free Orange Julius on Thursday spot.

Marta brings you right up to the door now. Location may be considered an issue now with the Dome losing the Falcons but I always thought Philips was pretty nice. I mean after a while everything can use an upgrade though, right?

Philips is great. Not sure what the issue is, especially with MARTA dropping you off literally right at the door

Except the new stadium is right next door to the Dome. Remodel Phillips, but DO NOT build a new arena, not yet.

The arena should have been built around Lindbergh in the first place. Had the Thrashers had ownership that wanted the team and an arena not in the ghetto, maybe they would have had a chance.

I never said MARTA didn't run right near Phillips arena, did I miss that?
By building it over on Fulton Industrial with an inside MARTA stop you accomplish two things lacking where it is now.
A. You would revitalize a lacking area and bring the surrounding property values up while increasing tax revenue with little to no downside.
B. Logistics make sense you can get in and out of there by vehicle easily, something you can't do at Phillips.
The Omni had atmosphere phillips reminds me of a large strip club.
