Neuheisel asked him right out of the gate if he expected to be winning like this so soon. His answer was no, but he was totally surprised by how quickly the upperclassmen bought in to the new philosophy.

That sort of thing is encouraging, because imagine the possibilities if our talent embraced the right hire and we're driven by legit motivation.

I saw the thread title & my imagination ran wild. Kind of a let down.

I mentioned the failure of the coaches to motivate the team a few weeks ago and got raked over the coals by a couple of the idiots here. Surely hiring a coach that can convince the team to step up their performance isn't necessary. Then those fools wouldn't have a reason to bitch all the time.

Yep.

He's a good recruiter too. I wish McGarity would cut the check for this guy but I'm sure we'll sit around with our dick in our hands while somebody else scoops him up

I've been a very vocal critic of CMR's over the years because I think he's soft. That doesn't mean he's a bad person. It doesn't imply that he doesn't want to win. I think that his underlying philosophy of "There's more to life than football" undermines the approach you need to take in this league to be elite.

I think Les Miles is a great example of a coach who commands the respect and focus of his players without sacrificing his presence in his family's life. He shows that you don't have to sleep on the couch in your office to get the most out of your team.

At this point, I think 99% of the decline of Georgia football under CMR is a patent inability to motivate the players. If it wasn't the crux of the issue, they wouldn't have lost every single game of importance since the 2012 WLOCP. (And by that I mean that was the last time I feel the Dawgs beat a team that they shouldn't have).

We need somebody vibrant and plugged in like Herman to shake that 10 year funk.
