I would see it as a downgrade. Slightly better game management, worse recruiter, less likely to enter the kindgom of heaven. Net loss, IMO.

That's exactly what some Atlanta sports radio guy said this afternoon. Tom might have agreed in principle, but he ain't signed shite yet.

Which is a smart move when USC and UGA aren't offering you a job. Southern cal is his home and Uga is a top tier job. Ohio st is his dream job per his own mouth.

My druthers -
Smart as HC if
Pruitt as DC
WKU Helton as OC
Cochran as S&C
If that happens, then watch out.
Could Pruitt stay? Maybe, at least 3 alpha dawgs in the above mix. But Smart should have learned under Saban how to keep an alpha DC and let him run his own shop plus they both come from the Saban tree so there should be some common ground in their belief system. Maybe not in general and if Bama comes calling he would have to take that.
The QB at WKU passed for almost 6,000 yards and 49 touchdowns this year. That should satisfy Eason.
If Cochran would come (I hear Smart's best friend), that would take the roof off this mother scratcher.

I see NO way we match Cochran's salary, much less exceed it. We truly have turned the corner if we'll pay a S&C guy over half a mil.

The fact that we are a $100M tier 1 program, and you would (correctly) believe that, is why we get kicked in the nuts over and over again.
I think for the first time, the big $$ guys and the little guys like me, have said enough is enough. You want a good portion of my disposable income play to win.

For that guy, I would do it in a blink of the eye. He is a fricking difference maker and will make as large an impact on this program as the HC, OC and DC. No brainer.
