Explain why "agreed in principle" means he's not an option?

I hear people say Smart has "agreed in principle" to UGA, but we're sure as hell not considering that a done deal.

Relax. Smart was spotted at the Kangaroo across from Butts-Mehre this morning buying a 32 oz mountain dew and a goo-goo cluster.

we don't go hat in hand to hire anybody..our reps get contacted by various agents and we might contact a few on our own..we interview those that seem most promising and we exhibit patience in the process..when UF finally got Meyer, they went through this, were patient, and the rest is history.

I hope ADGM doesn't panic and hire the first guy that says yes (like he did for the baseball team and that hasn't turned out to well)..

they should let this board conduct the interviews..

Doesn't mean there's not a chance, but guy is personally telling reporters he has agreed to re-up with Houston. Typically go through your agent if you're trying to force the hand of a potential hiring school, not directly to the media. This is something you do if you're trying to calm the tits of your current fanbase

Why in the world would Smart turn us down? He'll get paid exponentially more to become a coach at a top 10 program in the nation. He won't get a better offer than that for his first head coaching gig.

He is the HC at Houston, and until he signs a contract elsewhere, it would be disastrous for him to say anything other than "I am 100% on board @ Houston."

Smart move. Just his first year at Houston and no doubt he got a nice raise.

Sounds like he's gonna dig in at Houston and wait for Strong to get fired at Texas

This too. Dream job is at Texas and this ensures he not only gets another year to build his resume, but also another year to cultivate relationships in the state. Strong gets one final year at Texas and then Herman comes in.

Yep....starting to get that sick feeling that has consistently been with me for years as I watch UGA on Saturdays. It's my WAUGA Spidey Sense and it's never wrong.

Mixed emotions. Mullen has definitely done more with less at MSU but the less part is what worries me. We need someone who can do a better job of locking down our state. Mullen is probably not that man.
