So, I am re-watching the second half of the game and I was very attentive to the TD drive in the third quarter:
1st play - sweep to McKenzie, big gain
2nd play - Chubb up the middle for a 5 yard gain
3rd play - pass to mitchell for a 15 yard gain
4th play - Chubb gets stuffed behind the line
5th play - screen to Chubb, 5 yard gain
6th play - 15 yard pass to McKenzie
7th play - toss sweep to Chubb, 5 yard gain
8th play - QB keeper for a TD
This was one of the few drives in the game where I felt like Schotty opened things up. We finally started running the ball to the outside and not trying to kill ourselves by running over and over again up the gut. He also setup Lambert nicely with some play action. The outside runs really set up the play fakes and finally gave Lambert a little space to throw the football. During this drive I remember thinking “Man, this is the Georgia offense we all know and love”. But we haven’t seen this much. I know Schotty and Richt were trying to keep the playbook closed these past couple of weeks but this drive really showed the potential of this offense when we use the whole field and all of our weapons.
Anyone else notice the stark difference in this drive compared to others? Will we finally unleash our weapons next week or should we expect more of the same?

Hell, at this point, you are going to have to wake up the entire receiving corps after they have been lulled to sleep by running routes knowing full well no ball will be thrown to them and blocking for basic running plays.

It looked pretty damn good. I just hope we see more like that and less of the first half crap.

It's a lot easier to "open things up" when you have qb making accurate throws, which is what I saw in that drive.

Was this drive in shotgun with 3 wr's spreading the field?

I believe we did that once maybe twice in this drive.

Great thread.
I think you're right. I think/hope that Squat is really playing chess with the game plans.
The third quarter td drive didn't even look like the same team.

I understand they don't want Chubb to get run down early in the season and it's great we only had to rush him 19 times I think and we win. But when we had to settle for that 20 yard field goal that made it 17-6 we should have had Chubb in there when we got to the goal line. Jeb made a good catch and run we set up 1st and goal we should have rotated Chubb in there to give Michel a break. Just my opinion and I hope our offense has a good week of practice cuz USC is going to come in pissed
