A true freshman QB in the SEC does not have to be a liability. Peyton Manning started eight games as a true freshman and won seven with the only loss at the hands of Alabama.

Eason goes through his progressions better than any HS QB that I've seen. By fall 2016 there will be no question who is top Dawg.

Well that's what's important. You, some random dude on the internet, entertained the idea. Now Coach Richt and company can rest easy knowing that you put thought into Bauta starting....but dismissed the idea and validating their decision.

How can you say he isn't? Freshmen are liabilities. They shouldn't play.

If a program has truly recruited well, freshmen shouldn't have a big impact on a team. There was a stat I saw on the 4 playoff teams. They played very few freshmen.

Tell that to Nick Chubb and Todd Gurley. Such liabilities right?

I didn't say it didn't happen and I specifically said it it could happen here. But I don't think it's likely, especially for a qb in UGAs system. The only true freshman who started was stafford in 2006 and he threw 7 TDs and 13 INTs.

Here are some examples of freshman QB "liabilities" from the past. The team records vary, but the individual stats are impressive:

Terrelle Pryor
Jamelle Holieway
Chad Henne
RGIII
Matt Barkley
Terry Bridgewater

Of course, there is no reason for us to think the maturity, dedication, intelligence, arm strength, understanding of the game, and tapes of Eason, a top ten national recruit, could be anything but a liablilty in his first year.

1/100 does not make a trend or likelyhood. More often than not, it takes time for these freshmen to excel.

JT Barrett really crippled OSU last year, and Jameis Winston did the same to FSU the year before.....

Both were redshirted and yes, there are exceptions to the rule. But it's really not the best option.

Wel now that we agree that there are exceptions, let's get this kid in, go through spring practice, and see how he stacks up against the fine stable of QBs we currently have, before calling him a liability as a true freshman. He will have a lot of support around him.

The best option is the best player. If it's a true freshman, then so be it.

That's the first thing I said!!!!!! I just think it's not the a good sign for that to happen. And the best player usually knows the playbook. That usually takes a long time to get down, especially at Georgia. If a freshman with no experience and limited practice can beat out a redshirt junior and 2 seniors, one of which will have had a year of big game experience, something will be seriously fricked up with our QB situation.

Ramsey is starting. If he screws up continously, it will be Lambert or Bauta. Damn y'all. Can you not see what they are doing?

Rick Neuheisel was on the cross-talk overlap between The First Team and Chris Childers' show on SXM 84,and as he was giving his takeaways from hitting all 14 SEC schools on their camp tour this week, he threw his hat in the Lambert camp. Having seen him in person, Neuheisel says GL11 is the real deal.

Take it FWIW...
