Yep!

Can he even throw the football?

I remember Bauta throwing a perfect 50 yard pass in this year's G Day game that Justin Scott-Wesley should've caught. I will admit that Bauta specializes in short and intermediate range passes.

No matter who starts the first game I'm confident that the best QB will be under center for South Carolina. I think it will be Bauta.

In theory, I think we need to be able to stretch the field to give the running game opportunity. So I think Ramsey will be the starter. Plus, we need to utilize the talent of our receivers, young as they are.

However, I did watch Dan Mario beat UGA years ago by doing nothing more than reading our linebackers and either handing off or popping short passes over their heads if they bit on the run.

Game has changed a bunch since the '82 Sugar!

Funny when you see X's and Z's in a 3 point stance on the old YT vids.

Good post, BeefDawg.

Posts that contain provably false statements aimed at maligning one of our QBs piss me off. The pathetic posters who used to claim that Mason can't throw the ball 20 yards need to be shunned, shamed and ridiculed.

Arm strength is far from the most important QB attribute. Bauta is the guy who most consistently drives the offense down to TDs. Ramsey is prone to errors that will get us beat.

None of us saw this

Didn't see this either

Doesn't have shite to do with what I said

Bauta G-Day game, 16/25 w/ 171 yards and a TD, which includes 25 & 18 yard passes to Jordan Davis, and a 16 yarder to Towns.

None of those were thrown downfield

I want to see him throw the ball over the safety's head one time.

That was Ramsey, unless I'm remembering it wrong.

My point is that nothing about Bauta scares anyone. That's his problem.

Ramsey's perfect long pass was to Reggie "don't call me Brown" Davis

I could have sworn he threw the one to JSW too. Maybe I'm wrong. He also overthrew one to Mitchell on the first drive.

Yeah Ramsey threw one like 57 yards to JSW for a 72 yard TD play.

But look, CNB, I know you don't like Bauta, but he doesn't have a noodle-arm. The kid is pretty darn athletic. No, he doesn't have the arm that Ramsey has, but look how many teams have won a championship with a mobile QB that has a great running game, a great defense, and an average passing game.

Our best receivers are probably going to be our 4 awesome TE's. And we don't need someone who can throw 65 yards in the air for that. Mitchell can't stay healthy, Godwin and Chigbu are unknown true freshman, JSW is done and out, and everyone else other than McKenzie are simply average to above average at best so far.

I don't want to be throwing bombs every game. We don't need to. We have 4 TE's who are 6'4 to 6'6 that can all run and catch great. They are matchup nightmares vs 5'11 DB's.

I would love to see defenses stack the box to play the run and leave DB's defending 6'4+ TE's. Ramsey is going to take sacks while Bauta is going to avoid many of them and also gain rushing yards when plays fall apart.

Now all that said, unfortunately, I still think Richt has Ramsey starting. I would like to see Bauta, but if Ramsey can ballout, then whatever works I'm good with in the end.

I like him. I wish he was as gifted as Ramsey. He's got all the intangibles according to everyone you ask. I think if the coaches that watch him everyday thought he had the necessary physical gifts to win big, he'd have won the job already.

I disagree with this. I think UGA's running game necessitates it. If Bama rolls their safeties up to the LOS, UGA absolutely has to be able to beat them deep. Otherwise, they'll just be banging their head against the wall all day trying to run right at them. UGA has to give them some reason not to do that.

Our defense isn't good enough to rely on beating good teams 17-10.

If Joe Cox could beat people deep, Bauta won't have any problems doing it. And Cox didn't even have the benefit of a good offensive line or running game.

Bauta has less arm strength than Cox? Cox couldn't even throw it out of bounds...

Maybe it's just my opinion, but I really like Rome, Blaze, Harris, and Davis.

Georgia Points Scored Per Game

2014 41.3pts 8th best with "noodle arm" Hutson Mason
2013 36.7pts 21th best with super hero Aaron Murray
2012 37.8pts 19th best with world beater Aaron Murray
2011 32.0pts 33rd best with touch down Aaron Murray
2010 32.1pts 30th best with phenom Aaron Murray

I don't think any of our QBs will be as good as Hutson Mason but Bauta is the lesser evil.
