We're two plays away from being 6-1. If those two plays had gone our way, a lot more of our fan base would be supportive of Kirby. He was put in a pretty tough spot when he was hired and didn't have adequate time to hire a staff. I think he needs to reevaluate his hires and make adjustments, unlike what Richt did early on.

We were obviously a better team than Vandy, and at least equal to TN. I believe that Kirby will put the right players and coaches in place, but he'll need much more than one season to do it. It's not time to jump ship.

We can't forget what players we actually salvaged from that 2013 class. That was the most horrific signing class I've ever seen. Everyone was dismissed, hurt, or an incredible bust

That goes both ways though, also very lucky not to be 2-5 with a loss to Nicholls thrown in there.

Not bailing on Kirby, we all knew there would be growing pains while he learned on the job. That being said, still expected better than what we've seen. The lack of overall improvement is one thing that's really concerning.

We're also a play (Missouri) from being 3-4 and 2 points away from the greatest upset in CFB history against Nicholls.

I want Kirby to do well, but we've made some incredibly questionable decisions in almost every game. I'm hopeful he will get better with time. There's a long way to go for him though.

Good point and I agree. Richt jumped the ship quickly and obviously had Miami waiting with open arms while Kirby was coaching the defense for NC Alabama. And no doubt we need to recruit better but Chaney was not a good hire IMO. I think Chaney is a decent/experienced OC but he will never take us to the level we need to be to compete in the SEC. This article pretty much says all you need to know about Chaney: Jim Chaney Plus I don't like a fat arse as a coach and I don't think players respect a fat frick as a coach so I can't imagine him helping our offensive recruiting.

Well, we got rid of the coach and those same players are now garbage. Could it be Richt that was the difference between 10-2 and 6-6 last season?
Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.

I'm just commenting on the thinking of "Fire Richt" crowd.
Before you attack, I was ready to replace Richt for the last 5 years.

The 2015 team needed lots of things to be a championship caliber team

I actually still think 10 wins with that team was a pretty good accomplishment (even though many were very very ugly). That being said I was still ready for Richt to go.

It isn't and they needed and deserved that loss yesterday. They shoulda lost to Nichols and Mizzou. Gotta hit bottom. Our team is still infected with an entitlement mentality. We're UGA, we are supposed to beat Vandy..we win 10 games..blah blah blah. Go fricking hit somebody and hush.

I get what you are saying but I don't remember any on this board thinking that the 2015 team was championship caliber.

Maybe but obviously your statement is hypothetic. And objectively, no team ever has the same players from the previous season by design in college football.

Kirby might end up being better, worse or about the same as Richt; we simply won't know until we see how he recruits and coaches his team. What we do know is Smart did not recruit most the players on our team; they are Richt's players. Our OL got owned by Nicholl's State and now Vandy. I could be wrong but I don't think coaching is the main factor that explains that reality.

Richt didn't have to reevaluate his staff because he was wiping SEC championships

Kirby will get at least 4 years, more than likely.

The only thing I can't get past is how flat the teams start , in every game. It's just inexcusable, even if the competition is better and should win. The only one you can blame for being flat and not ready to go is Kirby, it has nothing to do with recruiting or scheme or anything else. It's inspiration, it's the "something" that you gotta have and be able to get the kids to just give everything they got. That is just not happening, and I'm not saying KS can't do it, but he's got to do something different to make the guys play with their hair on fire, cause it's not there.

"Most everyone"? Most of the country wasn't even mentioning UGA as potential champion. At most, a lot of UGA fans hoped it would be that good. We're generally regarded as being "pretty good," but not even one of the top teams.

He got hired when all the other new coaches f=got hired. he chose to coach Alabama at the National Championship game. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame him one bit. But if he didn't have time to hire a staff of his choosing it was his fault.

Disagree. i think Tennessee has a lot more talent right now and Kirby did a great coaching job against them.
