If you hire Kirby and wait until mid January when Alabama's playoff run is over, he'll have less than a month to salvage our recruiting class, which by then will be in shambles with the negative recruiting other schools would have done in those 7 weeks.

I think the only way you hire Kirby is if he agrees to leave Bama after the SECCG and begin recruiting immediately. This 2016 class we have the potential to sign is the kind of class National Championships are won on.

If we hired him, he'd be required to leave immediately. We did, however, let Richt coach in the NC game back in 2000, and FSU fans have never forgiven us.

If he accepts he's gone and will begin to pillage Bama recruits. No question

You mean our class could get better? But I was assured that it would fall apart, should Richt go buh-bye.

He will just use this is a raise. Don't even offer him.

Nah. He'd accept, I'm sure. That said, I don't particularly want a guy with zero HC experience.

I'll take a guy with zero HC experience as long as the assistants around him are good hires.

Ala Richt in '01 comes to mind

You'd have to think that if it were between Herman and Smart, Herman has the better resume. If that is what they are using as the benchmark.

I think Herman's Offense would have kids lining up to sign with Georgia.

The way I heard it told, Kirby was never coming home so long as Richt was HC. They didn't get along.

2 years at Texas State, 2 years at Rice, 3 years at Iowa State & 3 years at Ohio State...

During his two seasons at Texas State his squads led the Southland Conference in total offense and the 2005 team ranked eighth nationally in scoring. The Bobcats went on to make a deep run in the NCAA in the team's first ever Division I-AA appearance,
quote:

In 2007, Herman then followed head coach David Bailiff from Texas State to form the new coaching staff at Rice. With a reputation for engineering high-powered offensive attacks, Herman’s offense smashed nearly 40 offensive records during his first season as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Owls.[citation needed]

Rice ranked in the Top 10 nationally in 2008 in passing offense (5th; 327.8), scoring offense (T8th; 41.6) and total offense (10th; 472.3). Two Rice receivers had more than 1,300 yards receiving that year, tight end James Casey had 111 catches and quarterback Chase Clement was the Conference USA MVP
quote:

During his three seasons at Iowa State, the offense improved considerably and broke numerous team and player school records.[citation needed] Iowa State's 52 points in a win over Texas Tech marked the most points put up by the Cyclones against a conference opponent in 38 years. Iowa State quarterback Austen Arnaud ended his career as the Cyclones No. 2 all-time leading passer with 6,777 yards and 42 touchdown passes. His 8,044 yards of total offense is the second-best total in school history. Running back Alexander Robinson finished his Iowa State career as the Cyclones' fourth all-time leading rusher with 3,309 yards.
quote:

On December 9, 2011, Urban Meyer selected Herman as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Buckeyes.[6] On December 9, 2014, after leading Ohio State's fourth ranked offense while playing two backup quarterbacks, Herman was awarded the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top assistant coach

Herman has some pretty good recruits at Houston right now. I wouldn't mind snagging a few of them... Maybe even a QB with a dark tanning that can run a little.

I had never heard this but it is very believable, I'm sure it's the same issues Pruitt has had.

As far as I know, Herman has no connection the South or to the state of GA as far as recruiting goes. Would mean a total rebuild which we don't have to do. Go with Kirby or go with Jimbo. Not much else makes sense.

Kirby would be the best recruiter we've ever had. With that said, I'm not sure how he will do as a HC (whenever that time comes) but the more I think about it the more I think it's a good risk to take. Herman seems to be a good candidate as well but Kirby just feels right to me for some reason.

While at OSU, his primary recruiting area was metro Atlanta. So there's that.
