So after I've had time to process what occurred at Super Bowl 51 I've finally decided that the karmic balance of Georgia/Atlanta sports is on the verge of shifting.

We've had to watch every single major UGA/Atlanta sport experience a crippling and totally unheard of way to lose a specific and major sporting event.

Braves: Infield Fly Call LINK

Brooks Conrad forgetting every single baseball fundamental LINK

Hawks: Having the 1 seed in the East and then getting ran out of the ECF by the Cavs

Falcons: We all know.

And then finally the reigning champs of sports karma

UGA Football:

So other than being a sadistic frick who wants to sulk in pain with fellow Dwag fans I believe our great state is about to enter into a golden age of athletic excellence. We've been gnashing our teeth for the past decade waiting for the karmic cycle to finish (Praise be to the Falcons for doing the Lord's work). Time to strap on our big boy pants and get ready for the arse pounding UGA football, the Falcons, the Braves, and the Hawks are about to unleash upon the sporting world.

Thanks for putting all of my sorrow and agony of the past decade into one comprehensive post.

I wish this were true, but The falcons already had their moment when we blew a 17-0 lead in the 2012 NFC championship and fell a few yards short in the same exact end zone uga fell short in a month earlier.

Glad I can allow others to self-hate themselves on this beautiful hangover Sunday

While that was bad, blowing a 25 point lead in the Super Bowl is hands down the Coup de Grace to finally bury this shite era we've been in.

If the falcons needed the biggest choke of all time after what happened to them in 2012, doesn't this mean uga needs to match that after what happened to us in 2012?

No because we've been building up our Karma through all these swift kicks to the nuts. The Falcons Super Bowl debacle was merely the finale. Now is the time for the good karma we've built up to be used.

Maybe it just ups the bar for future futility - mere epic collapses won't be enough anymore.

Well, at least we can say now - Wow, that was bad, but not as bad as the Falcons in the Super Bowl.

But keep in mind this, the Falcons and Braves came in 1966, the Hawks trailed a bit but let's count them as 1966 too. Throw the Bulldawgs in there as well and you have 200 seasons of sports with 2 championships to show for it. The is an average of 1 every 100 seasons or 1 every 25 years.

Is there another state with all 3 major professional sport teams and the D1 college football team that has suffered that kind of futility? I can think of one - Houston.

Don't forget the baseball team pissed it away in Omaha too.

So you're saying I can blame the Diamond Dawgs for starting this shite back in '08?

Cool.

Or it could be just the beginning. Tearing down some historic churches to build a stadium that looks like a giant sphincter aimed straight at the main man in the sky, the Falcons will probably be cursed through all eternity.

Sometime in game 3, but could it be traced to ut miracle wins in 2007, or dj getting hurt in 2005?

I blame that year on Tripp Chandler. I truly believe he's out there tonight disappointing his wife as I type this.

this makes less than zero sense.

We got our arse beat by UT so no single player is to blame..probably martinez more than anyone.

And in the close loss to SC Mike Moore and Tony Wilson both dropped huge passes late in the 4th quarter that would have changed the game.

TC wasn't great by any stretch but he absolutely damn sure isn't to blame for anything that happened in 2007.

OP really hit the nail on the head for UGA Football with all those pics. I've never realized how many times this misery has resurfaced itself. And you could definitely add more
