“Barring a last-minute change of heart or any influence from elsewhere, [Florida State’s] where he’s headed,” one source said.

247Sports reported after Golson's transfer broke on Thursday that Georgia and South Carolina were seen as likely options. Other SEC programs, not just those two, are at least mildly interested in striking up talks with Golson, but they’re running into two issues. There’s SEC Bylaw 14.1.15.1 (d), which says a prospective student-athlete would be eligible to get scholarship money, practice and compete if they have not been “subject to official university or athletics disciplinary action at any time during enrollment at any previous college institution.”

An SEC compliance source believes this to be rigid, especially in light of Golson’s checkered past. Golson was suspended from Notre Dame, and thus the football team, during the 2013 fall semester for “poor academic judgement,”he has said.

Also, as Bruce Feldman of FOXSports.com points out, a potential hurdle is the SEC’s two-year eligibility rule.

Looks like this one is over(even tho it never really started)Go Brice or Faton or Jacob...

For the best. Golson was not an immediate band-aid no matter how much some wanted him to be.

I would feel more comfortable going into '15 with him than ramsey, probably...but I think we all knew from the get go that he wasn't REALLY going to come here.

We dont need him on campus for a bevy of reasons, the least of which being screwing up chemistry and basically saying frick you to the three current QBs battling it out.

Plus hes a turnover machine. If this were the second coming of Cam itd be different. But its not so... Bye

Definitely agree with this.

It doesn't instill a lot of trust in the players from the coaching staff to have them battle for position just to bring in an outside hire (so to speak) after all of that work. It would have been demoralizing. Plus, I don't think Golson is a game-changing type of player, anyway, so we would have a lot of bad will and a question mark at QB that might be better than the three that are in the mix right now. Just not a great scenario, so I'm glad it looks like he's going elsewhere.

That UGA will not have Golson is very good news. FSU and Auburn are the appropriate schools for players who lack the character to play for reputable colleges.

That's cool. IMHO, we don't need the controversy that comes with bringing in an outsider after our QB's have worked hard to prepare for the position.

Was really hoping we could get him sure he isn't great but he has experience and has played in a national title game. Of course FSU gets him.

So he's not visiting tomorrow? If so, why the hell is it worth our or his time?

Any one of the current top three QBs is going to perform better than the midget turnover machine, Golson. Golson was not around in the Spring so he doesn't know the playbook.

Notre Dame knows Golson better than any school and they are happy to be rid of him.

Well, I don't think they are wasting any time if he isn't a viable option. Either we have a better shot than we know or UGA talked for a minute and has moved on.

he doesn't really fit our offense imho...id rather see Ramsey and Bauta spilt time than change what we do for one guy...plus...the bi-law is a huge obstacle and UGA is not going to push the issue for a guy that may or may not be worth it...he would fit right in at Free Shoes University...Jimbo has proven that he clearly does not give a shite about off the field issues...you know that isn't CMR's MO

1. Everett Golson is going to visit the University of Georgia, probably not today but likely this week. This much I’ve been able to confirm.

quote:

Whitfield is extremely guarded in what he will reveal about Golson’s plans. But while he dismisses a lot of places Golson is rumored to be considering, Whitfield does not dismiss UGA.
“Coach (Mark) Richt definitely recruited Everett coming out of high school,” said Whitfield, who worked with Aaron Murray one summer while Murray was at Georgia. “Guys don’t forget that. If you strike up a relationship and it doesn’t go that way officially, that’s why it’s always important for kids and families to remain respectful to the other coaches.”
