Somehting to think about QB wise.......

Everyone is talking about Eason and when he starts but what about Chaney working a little magic with Lambert and Ramsey and letting Eason redshirt. Think about this, Johnny Manziel redshirted and won the Heisman the next year. Then Jameis Crab Legs Winston redshirted and won the National title the next year. Some people think that Eason would lose his temper if he was asked to redshirt but he would be able to play 4 years and get a lot of knowledge. What's your thoughts on this.......

there aren't enough sigh or facepalm memes to adequately respond to this.
but to be honest, there is nothing to gain by redshirting him. He's too talented to be here for 5 years, there's just no way. We also have a stellar QB coming in in '17 and could potentially have the #1 overall player (qb) coming in in '18.
Bottom line is, you play the guy who gives you the best chance to win. That aint lambert. Now, chaney may have worked some minor miracles with lambert and ramsey, but it seems pretty clear that Eason is the guy for the next few years and if we can go ahead and get his feet wet now to help us win in october/november then you do it.

Eason won't redshirt for the same reason that knowshown shouldn't have redshirted. Even if Chaney works magic with lambert or Ramsey, Eason is still far and away your most talented qb and the future of your program. You don't put him on the shelf and cost him game experience just because there are two older guys that are kind of doing better than they were last year.

I know that it won't happen but if it did Eason would come out in 17 on fire. He redshirts 16 and would know the playbook and come out firing. The only holdback to me is Murray redshirted 09 and had a 6-7 campaign in 10. I have a co-worker who played LB for the Old Ballsack here at SCjr and he said that Eason would ask to transfer out if the coaches asked him to redshirt. I just don't want the kid out there looking like a deer in the headlights in a game. I re-watched the 01 UGA vs Sister Kisser game last night and Green never had that look. Hobnail Boot! Eason may have to channel his inner Green if he starts at Ole Miss.

Even if we start Eason and we have a rough year, it would still pay us dividends down the road.
Murray, Stafford and Greene's first years were Richt's worst. The years after, we were contending for the SEC championship.

I'm pretty sure Murray sat out because of a shoulder injury. If he would've been healthy to play, I don't think he would've taken the redshirt.
Eason won't redshirt for the same reason Stafford didn't as a freshman. Even if he isn't going to start right away, he's too talented and the reps he'll get will pay off in the future.

See, I didn't know that. that's new to me. I was thinking of the other two guys and how they came out gunning after their RS years but A&M and FSU probably had better starters then we do this year. I'm curious as hell to see him start. This year could be one to remember but I hope its for good things.

If Eason is as good as his talent suggests he could be, we'll only have him for three years whether he redshirts or not.

He is too talented, and there is too much talent coming in behind him.
Plus, politically, if he redshirts and then Lambert shits the bed against UT, UF, Auburn, Tech or any combination of them, Kirby takes heat for sitting the talent.
If our season becomes not so great this year, it has to be with our "star" QB having opportunity and gaining experience, not holding a clipboard while a known happy-footed panic QB throws away games.
IMO too much too lose and not enough to gain by the redshirt

If Chaney is the magic man (and I have my doubts about that) let him work it with Eason. Not a senior that couldn't start at Virginia.

0% chance he plays for this long if he is as good as we want him to be.
Don't redshirt, get lumps out of the way this year, and have 2 years left.

Barring injury, I don't think you should ever redshirt someone who you think can play in the NFL. Maybe OLs.

If we redshirt him, we will get to watch him for 2 seasons.

says who? Whether it's 16 or 17, there's still going to be a learning curve the first time you're out on the field, for real, against real opponents, with everyone watching you. sure, it helps being a year older and wiser but the first time is the first time regardless of when it takes place.
I'd rather have him take his lumps in september this year then have 2.5 years to ball the frick out instead of having him take his lumps in september of '17 then have basically 1.5 seasons to do well before he goes in the top half of the NFL draft.
And as metnioend, Greene and Murray despite RSing still struggled early in their first seasons starting.

He's going to learn the playbook either way.
I'd rather him get actual game experience so that he's battle tested by 2017.
Either way we're getting 3 years out of him. He would be better prepared for his last 2 years by playing than holding a clipboard.
Also, the difference between the Manziel and Jameis situations is they had tried, true clear starters ahead of him. We don't have that.

If he's as good as all the "experts" say he is, he won't be playing FB at UGA for 4 years.

Yes...either his shoulder, or arm.

Why would redshirt him with Fromm coming in 17' and possibly Johnny Utah coming in 18'. You wanna have separation between classes, plus he is too talented to not play right away.

Are we talking about Trevor Lawrence? Has something changed with him being a fairly hard commit to UT?

The CBs for TL are pointing heavily to the good guys after he visited and hung out downtown with Eason. If it's not UGA then it's probably Clemson. Apparently UT is out of the running but the 2018 signing day is a long ways off.
I think TL and JE both want to compete against each other. If so, that's a great sign for both QBs.
