And they served Pepsi. How you gonna open a place like that in Athens and not serve. Coke. But a majority of restaurants do fail within the first two years

Everything about the place was mediocre. Not good but not terrible. I never had burgers which I hear were decent but I'm never going to order a burger at a sit-down restaurant

It closed early this year, I think?

Only went once and the food was very meh. From what I'd heard, Herschel didn't really have much to do with the place other than name and appearance; I think some conglomerate up north was in charge of it?

The better questions is, what are they going to put in place of it before football season kicks off. It's been vacant for probably 4 months or so by now.

Nothing has ever really survived there. It's kind of hard with Mellow being right across the hall and then Amici and Barbs and all those other bars across the street. It's odd given the prime location there on Clayton.

ETA: To that end, I'm wondering if Saucehouse on Broad is ever going to open. So many construction projects going on that need to get done before the fall, including the new apartments and shops between Hull and Lumpkin on Broad. They're also building another Cookout closer to downtown which I'm pretty stoked about.
You've also got the old location where Yoforia was next to Waffle House now open. Need to get some tenants in these places before the busy season starts up.

Don't forget to add the 5 points halfmoon outfitters spot once they move to Prince

Yeah the menu was too busy for what they were trying to offer. Know your audience, restaurateurs.

True that. I know turnover in this town is pretty typical but there are a lot of spots to be had for those with the bankroll to take them. Part of me kind of hopes that the area on Broad between Milledge and Lumpkin where Saucehouse is going will turn into something similar to Canton St in Roswell where a real burgeoning local restaurant and cafe scene has exploded lately.

They just need to put a great drunk food location there.

How many failed restaurants is that for Herschel now?

Anybody remember D'lights? His 'diet' fast food franchise..

I believe that is where Athens Running Company is now located. There is also a vacancy next to the Smoothie King on Lumkpin. Used to be Marble Slab and is now a closed down Tex Mex place (which was terrible!)

I saw that the 5 points Yoforia was gone not too long ago. Was honestly hoping that the downtown one was still there. Menchies is fine, but Yoforia didn't have all the artificial colors and such in their stuff. Dark chocolate combined with banana was the bomb. Sprinkle on some dark chocolate morsels and BAM! Stuff was GOOD.

I think Menchies is now the only yogurt place left in Athens
