So what happened

Hey guys, I've been underway for the last few weeks so I haven't really been abreast of the recruiting situation, but when I left we were #3 or 4 with a chance to move up. Now we are sitting at 10. So wtf!?!? I know our class is still great from a needs standpoint. I just wanted your opinions on why we fell so far. We lose anyone?

UGA fell because they lost momentum heading into the last 10 days or so. Schools like LSU finished strong.
The difference between 6 and 10 is not big. Losing one 4 star WR was the difference. There was an in state LB many thought was a UGA lean that is still out there which can make a huge difference.
Overall not a bad class. Offensive line recruiting was falling apart at the wheels but turned out just fine. They were able to fend off a late push by Texas for a DB.
Recruiting has razor thin margins. If Slayton and Smith wind up in the boat they would have finished inside the top 5.

We had a bunch of commits early in the process and were essentially playing defense on a lot of our guys down the stretch which is tough to do.

In all likelihood, we were always going to finish around 5th, maybe 6th. We had most of our class already in the fold and there were other schools waiting to land some really big prospects. If we had kept Slayton and added Smith, we'd have been 4th-5th, and if we still manage to land Smith then we'll jump up #6.

We had a great class with a bunch of players that will make an immediate Impact next season.

We dropped 4 positions down the stretch and finished with the 10th ranked class but we did fill a lot of need positions on defense. Here's the 247 Composite: LINK
