SEC Network has announced it will be on Myers quad that day.

Only other possible Top 15 (hell, Top 25) matchup that day is Clemson-Notre Dame

I think they'll probably end up at ND-Clemson

I'm willing to bet Tech beats Notre Dame this weekend and makes that even more of a dogshit choice

If Bama beats Ole Miss and UGA beats Carolina on Saturday, we're talking a potential Top 5 game

why would SECN get to "pick first"? Seems like they'd have to wait on big boy gameday and then plan accordingly from there.

I'm not saying I don't think it's a terrible choice. I just think that's the only other possible place for them unless they go to North Dakota Stafe again (or somewhere like that).

No idea. Unless ratings for SEC Nation have been poor and they're using this as an opportunity to actually showcase a huge conference game for once.

Here are my 3 guesses for where they go:

1. North Dakota St. @ South Dakota St.
2. North Dakota @ Portland St.
3. Stony Brook @ James Madison.

If ND and Clemson are undeafted it will be there. Even if ND loses to GT it probably will be there (Clemson). It's ESPN we're talking about

I for one hope this happens... ND is playing the nerds & CU is playing the fighting Granthams/Petrino's this weekend...

Nothing I'd rather see than GT lose & Petrino/Grantham go to 0-3 (0-4 counting the Belk Bowl)...

It might be worth highlighting this:

SEC Nation: Season 2 Announced Stops (subject to change)

Is it possible that SECN announces they'll be in Athens, then ESPN later decides "nah, we want Gameday there", and SEC Nation goes elsewhere

Any precedent for that?

I think it'll depend on what channel the game airs on. Gameday does go to sites occasionally where ESPN/ABC isn't broadcasting the game they're featuring, but they don't do it often because they have to fly Herbstreit across the country.

I would imagine CBS will pick up the UGA/Bama game and make it the 3:30 slot, unless ESPN makes a deal with them to get it and give CBS an extra primetime slot later this year or next year (this deal was reversed in 2011 when LSU/Alabama was moved to an 8pm kickoff, in return, CBS gave ESPN the rights to any SEC game of their choosing in 2012, which ended up being the UGA/USCe game).

If CBS picks the game up, Gameday probably won't be there. If ESPN makes a deal with CBS to get the game and make it a primetime kickoff, Gameday will probably be there.

I rarely see this factored into Gameday's decision. They go to games that CBS airs quite often.

ETA: Gameday went to 6 SEC matchups in 2014, 3 of them were on CBS.

Very small chance Gameday will be there even with all of that. That would be the third Alabama game of a very early season.

That's pretty much the worst case. Myers tailgating is messed up and there's not even gameday to show for it
