SO we ain't elite and never will be...there is no reason for it....the program and the university is FINE as is. The schools that are elite are that way because they had / have glaring inefficiencies that must be compensated for. UGA is the envy of most of the NCAA....

Something intrinsically sad about this. It pretty much implies that the fan base should be content and even happy if we win about 75% of the time in football, even if we never again win any form of championship.

Basically you're saying that Alabama has to have expectations of winning championships because they have nothing else to live for in the state of Alabama... Maybe...but who wants to run any form of sport without the aspiration to be the best?

This is the calling card of the Mark Richt supporters. Content with being an 8-win team, and led by a good, christian man. Championships are for losers.

Everyone younger than me assumes that UF is an elite school.

Florida- in 100 years of football won exactly ZERO SEC/ MNC trophies. Yep, ZERO until SOS pulled them from the abyss.

What is going on at UGA is criminal. If it weren't for Clemson and Texas we'd be the laughing stock of college football. Looking at this weekend both those teams may very well leave us behind.

Nobody in history has ever said this. Blows my mind that so many people (georgia "fans" at that) continue to spout this nonsense.

I think it's hilarious how the fire richt crowd is using Texas as an example of what we should strive for simply because they beat Oklahoma this weekend. Have you not been paying attention to what has been going on with that program outside of 3 hours last saturday? It's an absolute mess and one game changes nothing.

So what you're saying is, all we need to do to right the ship is get an alum who will go on to be a top 10 SEC coach in history to come in and completely reinvent the way the league plays offense. Is that all there is to it?

Is your argument that Richt is not as good as Saban? Ok. You win.

You mean 10, right? In 14 complete seasons, he has 136 wins. Right at 10 wins a year. He will probably win 10 this year.

Why is this such an issue with his detractors> I've never seen any of his supporters make this as an issue to keep him...why do his detractors think it is an issue?

You DO realize that Texas is 1-4 this year, right?
Is thta what would make you happy? if Georgia were 1-4 but we beat Alabama or Tennessee?

I'm being facetious here. But there are a lot of fans that are upset with Richt because he puts more emphasis on religion than coaching. It goes hand-in-hand with him not caring that much about winning or losing.

and they're idiots. Richt is more vocal and outspoken about his faith than others, but that doesn't mean that he coaches any less or worse becuase of it. These "fans" have no idea what takes place in practices, meeting rooms, film study, on teh sideline or in the lockerroom. Richt coaches just like ANY other coach. Some people are just ignorant enough to believe that simply because he is outspoken about his faith, he somehow doesn't spend as much time coaching.

one of the dumbest statements I've ever heard. Richt wants to win football games more than any fan we have.

dawgslife asked why some fans think being "a good, christian man" is an issue with his detractors. I was merely replying. That's my perception of why people on this board keep talking about him leaving to do missionary work. Don't get pissy with me just because I'm filling in the blanks for you guys.

Could you or WG show me where I used Texas "as an example of what we should strive for"??

I'll hang up and listen....

We were also not elite with Goff, and he was cheaper. So if the goal is to continue the century plus tradition of being not elite, there are still far better options than Richt.

You must hate Richt a lot if you are willing to go from 10 wins a year down to 6.5 wins a year.
