Run the thing the entire second half against Samford?

Let them practice it until they get it right.

I'd rather they take it behind the barn and shoot it. But if that's not an option, maybe not the whole second half, but I could see a few possessions of primarily wild dawg being valuable (though it puts film out as well... and I'm not sold that Samford's defense is better than our practice squad but could certainly be wrong).

We need Fromm to get as many reps as possible.

When was the last time we had a significant gain or scored a TD off of it?

I remember someone running it a couple of years back (maybe Sony) the snap was bad or dropped and I believe Sony picked it up and ran for a TD...maybe vs UK?

Godwin scored vs uk, and that wasn't planned due to the fumble.

If we are going to run it, we need to run it with a more spread instead of bunch formation and get some jet sweeps/ fakes involved to keep the pursuit honest. A single read in that bunch seems to be a clusterfrick...

We need to let Stetson Bennett run the wild dawg. A QB as accurate him who also runs a 4.5 in the 40. He ate defenses alive in high school with his mobility and accuracy throwing on the run. His only down fall is he is short. It would also show Fields he could come in right away and run it.

Weren't you the one pumping Bennett preseason? What are you his agent or something?

Godwin threw a TD out of it against Penn State, but I generally hate the formation. There's no real passing threat out of it and teams can stack the box against it to shut it down. It disrupts the offense.

That was Terry Godwin and yes it was against a very bad Kentucky team

Yes I was. I watched the kid play ball, he would be great running our Wild dawg package. Are you impressed with the results that the wild Dawg has yielded us so far with Mecole, Terry, or Sony running it? It sucked last year, and it sucks again thus year. I am simply pushing for a mobile QB to be running the formation.

I think the Wild Dawg is worthless unless a) you run it all game and b) there is a threat to pass out of it. Otherwise it's just a run play without the handoff that everyone sees coming.

Yep. But wasn't the board thrilled when it was introduced?

Sure. The idea of having an extra blocker in the run game should be advantageous, especially with our skill position talent.

Unfortunately, our OC seems to call it at random and the defense is keying in on the backfield every single time. On top of that, the OL is still a work in progress.

I would be completely okay with just scrapping this formation until the blocking becomes more consistent.

Sony scored against App State with it. So 11 days ago.
