Why is this structured differently than TG3's policy? Do the players have a hand in negotiating the type of coverage they get?

Because the university was paying like 60k a year for TGs policy. I mean, chubb came into this season as arguably the best back in the country and on the heisman short list. Why the frick did gurley have 1st round draft protection and chubb doesn't

quote:

This could actually be a landmark case when it comes to college football players getting some form of actual solid compensation for putting their bodies on the line for the betterment of the university and the NCAA. There will probably never be a players union in college football, but if Nick Chubb is screwed out of his own injury policy because he wasn’t permanently disabled by this hit, is a bad look for everyone.

Basically, the NCAA would be saying that it sucks Nick Chubb isn’t going to be making all he can at the professional level but they’ll be damned if they’re going to compensate him for the money he made them. This is the central focus of the problem with the paying college players debate, but we might be able to meet in the middle with better insurance policies after this devastating Chub injury that might get messier as time goes on.

Goddammit, Chef, I saw "Chubb" in the title thinking it was another thread with the pic of his injury.

If he doesn't get to play next year I wouldn't blame him one bit for going pro vs coming back. Yea his draft stock will be shite, but at least he will be getting paid.

The corner from Oregon is about to cash 3mil for losing draft position due to a similar injury

quote:

Keith Lerner told CBS Sports Thursday night that Ekpre-Olomu is in the process of collecting a $3 million claim after suffering a season-ending knee injury in December. The All-American corner, projected to be a first-round draft choice last May, slipped to the seventh round after blowing out his ACL before the College Football Playoff National Championship.

“That claim is close to getting paid,” said Lerner, the Gainesville, Florida-based head of Total Planning Sports Services.

Lerner added the claim should be paid in the next 30-60 days. Ekpre-Olomu was the 241st player taken in the draft by Cleveland. Loss of draft value claims are paid if a player slips one round lower than projected previously by a panel of draft experts.

So who decides how their policy is written? University or NCAA?

I would assume the university given that they pay the premiums. Idk if this has more to do with Chubbs being a sophomore? Idk why but maybe it's restructured their Jr year when draft projections are more easily factored?

Where the frick

Is peter buck

I need to know this shite

Disability will only pay if you suffer a financial loss. As shitty as it sounds, if Chubb doesn't play next year he's not suffering a financial loss. If you're permanently disabled it's a different story. I doubt they have any way to quantify what his draft pick "may" have been and how much that is worth.

Look at Gurley...if he continues at this pace the only ones that suffer from his previous injury are UGA fans that didn't have him running the last year.

It's got to be the Sophomore Junior scenario. No way Gurley was rated that much higher.

Im saying. Being a heisman hopeful then missing a year of ball is a huge deal. Depending on his recovery, say he slides to the 4th or 5th. that's losing a mountain of money

I want to know how these policies are determined. This is gonna be a major deal in the future
