Bringing in Boom would be a disaster. His defense this year is one of the worst in the country.

I don't want muschamp but I could force myself to be excited. He wasn't working with a ton at Auburn and his HC doesn't realy place much emphasis on defense. However, the last several weeks they've improved a good bit. Gave up 29 to bama, 13 to us, 10 to ATM, 27 to ole miss. His defenses at UF were always stout.

I think a smart/muschamp combination could form a very solid defensive tandem. Plus, the talent we curretnly have on D is light years better than Auburn.

With that said, please God let us keep pruitt.

Agreed, I would love to keep Pruitt, but I could live with Muschamp if I have to (I'd rather not due to his temperament). He's a very good defensive mind. He has very little to work with at Auburn this year and Gus' offense doesn't do a defense any favors.

Auburn was not void of talent... they have a lot of guys UGA recruited and really wanted. They are currently #92 overall defense, #79 pass defense, #94 rush defense and #68 scoring defense. That is atrocious. I also just noticed he has Auburn running a base 4-2-5 defense.....no thank you.

Not void but not a ton of it either. Most of their 4 and 5 star recruits on the defensive side of the ball are freshmen and sophomores. He's a 1st year taking over a defense that was bad last year too. Has to deal with an offense which by its very nature puts the defense on the field a lot, and the offense was not scoring points to make opponents one dimensional and constantly putting the defense in bad situations. The defense has improved in the 2nd half of the season. He was not a good head coach, but there is no questioning his success as a DC at multiple stops.

He has done well as a DC before. I just believe he is descending. His antics on the sidelines has cost his team 15 yard penalties before. He just got one this last weekend. UGA should be doing everything possible to keep Pruitt. Hopefully USCe is going to get rid of this possibility all together.

Agreed on keeping Pruitt. Kirby and Pruitt I think would make a really good team both in building a defense but also in recruiting. If they can get a really good OC, I think it could be the best coaching staff the Dogs have had since the early years in the Richt tenure.

The OC has to be a homerun. They need to keep Eason and others on board. It also needs to happen quickly.

A post on another message board by a supposed "insider".

Why the hell would Muschamp make a lateral move to UGA? He'll probably get a head coach offer with all of these openings. Some are saying that USCe might even be interested in him now.

I don't think AU to UGA is lateral.
UGA is a better job, position to position.

Which one is a quicker path to a head coaching gig?

.......Starting over from scratch at a new school or sticking where you're at?

Muschamp wants to be a head coach again.

The move wouldn't be made because anyone thinks Muschamp is better. It would be made because the administration doesn't want Pruitt.

I think 98% of people agree Smart/Pruitt is a desirable combo. Unfortunately, the 2% control the decision making process, it appears.

I don't.

1) How would Pruitt handle a Defensive minded coach having a hand in his Defense. Potential friction situation right there.

2) Smart has never been the boss-man before, and Pruitt, despite his upside, has proven he's a cancerous insubordinate cock sucker that doesn't get along with his fellow coaches. Why would Smart want that headache?

Yep, one of several reasons why I think Pruitt will be offered and accept the DC job at Bama if Smart becomes our HC.

Well normally you'd be right. But at Auburn they fire their coaches so much that he'd be gone with the bus.
