It sounds like everyone has agreed on Smart, and now they are working through the details (coordinators, retaining staff, etc). What more do you want at this stage in the game? Our primary target is preparing for the SECCG at the same time.

McGarity said in press conference today that he would be hiring a search firm.

This thing is just getting started.

That's how these things work. Exciting but naive to think otherwise.

McGarity failed to mention that the search firm is also looking for an AD.

Any interview would be done in private, away from casual observers, and definitely not in Athens.

bullshite. You don't plan to hire a search firm the day after you fired the second best coach in school history coming off of a 9-10 win season with a top 5 recruiting class on the horizon. Firm will never actually be hired or it has already been vetting prospects since the UF game. The man is already in place or else McGarity should be fired yesterday.

I am seeing how this ends. McGarity will meet with the players to announce that HE will be the new HC. Coach Greg McGarity! How do you like him now, grade school bullies?!

Ya, if they fired Richt and didn't have a very strong plan in place, he should shoot himself in the face...

Do recall that Richt was working both for FSU (getting ready to coach in the national championship game) AND UGA at the same time. I'd be surprised if Kirby didn't coach through the playoffs.

That was a long time ago, and the BCS champ game was played on Jan 4. We are talking another week later for the National Championship. That is way too long.

Sure, McGarity has had an undercover search firm working behind Richt's back for the last month....

Seriously. It's not like Richt left McGarity's office and McGarity said to himself "welp, gotta make some calls"

Given our Athletic Department's leet skillz it was probably Amy Smart. She's cute enough and all, but I don't know about her coaching potential.

Search firm is slang for go between. Stupid waste of money but it allows coaches to say they have had no contact with x school. They do no searching...

They're designing a really kick-arse craigslist posting as we speak.

Why on Gods green earth would anyone not want to keep Pruitt?
He only took a terrible defense that had one of the lowest pass defenses in the country and in the first year had the #5 ranked pass defense and as of right now is the #1 pass defense in the country. We currently have the #10 defense in the country.
Auburn has the #76 pass defense and overall #95 defense.

anyone that cares about UGA football? Idk...there actually aren't any reasons.

The guy making this hire though cares about everyone speaking in inside voices with proper language, and ideally will work on the cheap.
