That'll put Moo State in their place. Yeah, grind on that you fricking bizarro dawgs! We may not ever be Bama-level great but we'll always own Mississippi State!

If this Mullen thing is just a power play by McGarity to make sure we are the only school getting brand recognition from "Dawgs"...hang on. That actually might make sense to him.

Nobody outside of washington thinks UW is the "dawgs" over us.

I didn't say anyone did. But their chant is still Go Dawgs, not Go Huskies.

If its Smart, the best thing would be to announce on Sunday. Let him get through the SECCG, since there is only a few days of practice and the game left. Then he can move into to transitioning for recruiting and building his staff.

Nicky is on his on going forward into the play-offs.

No way we can let KS continue as DC with UA until, possibly Jan. 12th.

1st day of Spring semester is - Jan 11th & Signing day is February 3rd.

If it is Smart, it's gotta be in the next week.

The sooner the better or else the recruits (if any) who jump ship will leave an undersigning and screw whoever comes in. If they hire mullen we may well be the laughing stock for several years.

Do recall that Richt was working both for FSU (getting ready to coach in the national championship game) AND UGA at the same time. I'd be surprised if Kirby didn't coach through the playoffs.

And God help us all if it's Mullen.

Radi N reported yesterday new coach will be announced after SEC Championship Game. So it could be Smart announced next Monday.

By next Monday, you would think we would know if something is in place. That would be a strange situation if Smart knows he is coming here and it still in contact with Bama recruits that whole time.

He wouldn't be. They would pull him off recruiting duty.

Strange feeling that NOTHING was in place when the trigger was pulled. And that's bad.

What were they going to do? Negotiate a contract with Smart the week before the Tech game?

This is the way it works. You get rid of the old guy, take time in between to figure it out, and make a new hire. You don't fire someone and have his replacement sitting in the chair later that day.

They could very easily have had a game plan for who they wanted to pursue (and have all the folks on our side at least in some measure of agreement on who that would be). If nothing else, it wouldn't have been that difficult to gauge Smart or whomever's interest in the job prior to moving forward.

The whole thing reminds me way too much of how we wound up with Grantham. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kirby back out on his own (again). Then whaddayagot? Mullen?

McGarity said in press conference today that he would be hiring a search firm.

This thing is just getting started.
