Sleeping giant

Bear Bryant said long ago that Florida was a sleeping giant and that the right person could step in and wake that giant up. Obviously that person was Steve SPurrier the prick.
Are we a sleeping giant? As a program we we heads and shoulders above Florida when Bryant made that statement and had been since the beginning. I don't se any reason why the right person couldn't go on a Spurrier type run at UGA. We have the talent in state and if we were at that level we would have almost no in state competition for that talent...UGA should be one of the top 4 or 5 coaching jobs in college football but it is not in the top 15 I don't think....if you go by our experience since Dooley left probably not in the top 25....

Without a doubt. Most knowledgeable football fans understand the vast resources available at UGA. There is a reason why most SEC fans mock us and want us to keep Richt. It’s not science, it’s football. Numbers don’t lie

I think that, like many other programs, we have an inflated sense of self when it comes to our place in history. I do think, though, that Georgia absolutely has a potential it has never realized. I am fully convinced that Georgia is a Ferrari driving in the right lane going 55.

I think shifting demographics have given Georgia a higher potential that has ever been the case before. (see: Atlanta)

This^^^^^
Programs that actually have the historical football programs that young, "new" UGA fans beleive we have:
Bama
Ohio St
Notre Dame
Uscw
Oklahoma
Nebraska
Miami
Hell.....even Minnesota has a more prestigious history than us. They have 4 recognized MNC since 1936. Let that sink in.

This.
With the population growth around Atlanta in the past 20 years and the football programs to go with it, Atlanta is arguably the second most recruitable city in the country. Second only to Miami.

Nationally? Maybe. But even with only 2 SEC titles in the past 33 years (God that was nauseating to type), we are still third in SEC Titles with only a losing record against the two programs ahead of us.

no

We are simply not at the top of the food chain in the SEC as most fans want to believe. We pretty much always have been middle of the pack with some success occasionally. Reality Sucks, but the truth is hard for some people to deal with

This is so true...except UGA is the a-hole Ferrari going 55 in the left lane.

Huh?3rd all time in the SEC in number of championships.
Even if your statement was correct (which it obviusly is not) Where exactly was the LSU program before Saban?
How bout the UF program pre Spurrier?

Until Dooley started hinting at leaving early in his 50's we were the #2 program in the SEC so roughly 83-84. Now we are 4th or 5th. The right coach walks in we would jump back to #2 within 5 years. Alabama botches the post Saban hired we could be the current #1 but still far behind historically.

no
we were always number 3
Bama
Tennessee
Georgia
historically, that is still the case, or at a minimum, we are now tied with LSU for 3rd
LSU DID jump over Auburn
We have more SEC Championships than they do and more wins, but they have a slightly higher winning % by like .005 of a percentage point

100% yes
We have the resources, we just haven't had the personnel

No need for you to begin this discussion when you left the other one without finishing it.

We all know that but most don't know They have a better winning % and more national titles and own the head to head with Uga.
