Serious question - How much more should the school do?

So I'm going to get it out of the way saying that I think that everything that UGA has done for Devon Gales and his family is fantastic. The outpouring of support from the Dawg Nation as a whole has been really touching, and I wish nothing but the best for this kid. His story of recovery has really been touching, and I hope he overcomes all of his challenges.
That said - Has there ever been any reports about something (anything?) that Southern University has done for this kid or his family? Everything that UGA has done, financially, emotionally, medically, etc. has been completely above board, and totally outside of their responsibility. I think it's great that fans are stepping up and helping them get a house that's wheelchair accessible, but I've heard NOTHING about Southern helping this member of their own team, and everything about UGA assisting.
Maybe it's because I haven't been looking in the right places, but the optics seem to indicate that his own school isn't doing much of anything to help, while the school that invited them to play in the game that caused the injury has been footing the bill for a lot of stuff that's honestly not their responsibility. I've never heard of the home team taking an injured player from another school under its wing as much as Georgia has, so I'm glad that our folks are so compassionate and charitable.
I'm getting cynical as hell, these days. I wish I knew why this story bothers me as time goes on. It probably wouldn't if there was some indication that his own University were doing more.

I don't know what Southern has done to help if anything, but I like to focus on the positive impact UGA is having in his life and it makes me proud to be a Dawg

I'm sure that they are, but being that we don't live in Southern's back yard, you're not going to hear anything about it. In reality, what obligation do our local news outlets really have to cover what a school in another state does for its student?
That said, as long as we are willing and able, I see no reason to suspend our efforts, regardless of Southern's involvement.

No, I'm not saying that the school should stop helping. Maybe you guys are right - hopefully it's just that we only hear about the UGA involvement because it's a local story, and the Southern end isn't.

I really do think that has everything to do with it.

He's also doing most of his rehab in Atlanta, right? It's a lot easier for UGA reps to go see him than it is for Southern people to come over from Louisiana.

I don't know what if anything Southern has done, but I don't care. I don't mean that to blast your line of thinking, because I've wondered the same thing, but it just doesn't bother me.
Georgia is going above and beyond the call of duty and for a school that is typically blasted by other college sports fans as being a school of thugs and sex and drugs, this puts a glowing image of the school and specifically the athletic department and football program out.
Let Southern worry about Southern as far as I'm concerned.

Not long after Devon Gales was injured I emailed the Southern AD and the President of the university expressing my hopes for his recovery and the outpouring of concern and support for him of UGA players, administration, and fans.
I never received a reply email from either one. My guess is that is an indication of their support for him. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think you're also forgetting how much more $ we have than Southern. Especially our Athletic Administration.
I'm just incredibly proud of the way we've handled this.

Yep, Devon is one of ours now. An honorary Bulldog.

You're probably wrong. While I'm sure they tried to respond to all of the correspondence they received during that time, some probably slipped through the cracks. It happens.

Ben Watson just pledged $20,000 to the Devon Gales house fund, and tweeted Gurley, Malcolm, Geno Atkins, and several other NFL former Dawgs. Looks like the fund will meet its goal soon enough.
