Georgia

“They’re the most talented, best team in the East without question.”

“The quarterback situation is a big unknown. Who’s the guy? How will they use him? Will he be a guy who has to make plays or a guy they ask to just not get them beat? I’m sure Brice Ramsey is the guy they’re counting on, but he hasn’t played a lot of meaningful snaps. Is there a Plan B if he can’t get the job done? I’m not sure.”

“I don’t understand why people there gave Mike Bobo a hard time. Look at the numbers. Offense wasn’t their problem.”

“Nick Chubb is phenomenal, and he’s a great young man, by the way. Brian Schottenheimer will come in and build it around him. I don’t expect they’ll change much philosophically.”

“I think Jeremy Pruitt does a great job with their defense. They were a little bit inconsistent, but they were significantly better than the year before. You could see his DNA starting to impact the way they played.”

“Lorenzo Carter has a big-time future. I thought he was a very impactful linebacker as a freshman, and I expect him to have a breakout year. He could be a difference-maker for their entire defense.”

“I was surprised Leonard Floyd came back. He should be an All-SEC guy without question.”

“They lost some solid linebackers, and they finally got Damian Swann to play to his potential at cornerback last year. That’s a lot of experience to lose at key positions, so how they replace them will go a long way in determining how dominant they are.”

I'd bet that second one is Spurrier.

I take fricking issue with this. First off, I loved Swann and he was definitely one of my favorite players last season. He did a lot of great things in big moments. With that being said, I don't think anyone would say he's reached his full potential. He wasn't that great in coverage at all. There's still room for him to improve greatly in that area. I don't know how an opposing coach can really gauge that. Also, for how great their careers were, I don't think Herrera or Wilson were right for Pruitt's system (he had them in coverage a lot more than I think anyone felt comfortable with). This coach's comment sounds like negative recruiting drivel.

Spurrier was the last one. He knows how to make jokes and bullshite when nothings there. Hopefully all teams feel that way about our linebackers...but I bet every team game plans based on our linebackers. Classic CSS

One thing to watch this year is whether or not the Pruitt Fan-Boyz will actually allow their God to be criticized should his defense struggle again at times.

All of last years losses should have been laid at the feet of Pruitt, but instead we just got clown jokes about Bobo's last name.

The loss to Florida, in particular, was one of the worst and most humiliating and emasculating defensive performances in UGA history. And Pruitt even begged the fans to blame him for it, but the PF-Bz couldn't bring themselves to do it.

It's very bizarre.

I will give you the FL game. Terrible defense. I never could understand why we were playing our safeties back so far and out of the play. It was like playing 9 on 11.

The Tech game, I put on Richt for the awful decision to squib kick the last kickoff.

The usce game I put on the players and in particular the new qb. I don't blame Bobo for calling a pass on first and goal from the 4 with the game on the line. There were ten in the box with one on one coverage outside. We can at least make them respect something besides a dive play. The qb dropping back and throwing the ball at the guards butt is not what you want to do. Intentional grounding, Second and goal from the twenty.

Pruitt's defense and the way he went about his job last year was such an improvement over the past couple of years, it just seemed better than it actually was.

Which coach said this......

South Carolina was a very tough and physical team in 2014. Trying to run against them down around the goal line was unpossible. I don't know why any team would try to punch it in against them only using the run.

It's been beaten to death, but give the ball to Gurley four times. If they keep him under four yards on those four carries, tip your hat to them.

It wasn't a bad playcall though. If it worked everyone would be ecstatic. I cannot count, it's likely somewhere over 30+ I'd guess, the number of times we've been around the 5 and done a PA pass to the flats for a touchdown. we run plays like that A LOT. That one time just didn't work. Any anyone who thinks that play lost us the game simply shouldn't be listened to ever again.

If we had just given the ball to gurley 4 times and he was stopped nobody would "tip their hat", they'd call for bobo's head. "Same play again!? They knew it was coming!!! Why not pass!?"

No doubt...they had no idea what to do vs USCe passing game and their inability to stop the run vs UF an GT were the biggest factors in the defensive breakdowns last year.

Sorry,they won't be missed.

Sorry but I just have to disagree totally. It was a terrible call. The fact that it didn't work is further proof that it was indeed a terrrible call. Mason was unproven in a clutch situation, your strength is the running game. We were running very well in the game and on that series. You just get a pick so they are off balance. The clock is against you but with a touchdown and buring some clock while you run it in can flip it to in your favor. Even if we score on a pass that leaves them more time to fly back down the field.

Quality Coaching.... Everything points to running the ball in that situation.
If it takes four plays you burn 2-3 minutes of the ~5 remaining. If you don't score they are up against your goal line even if you miss the field goal.

This might be the single biggest failure in logic I've ever heard.

Meh, the play call was fine. The execution was terrible.
