This doesn't allow us to know what Ramsey (probably) will do, but it at least gives us a glimpse of what has happened previously with a first time signal caller. Bold players indicate a non-freshman, as this year's QB will be.

2001 David Greene
192/324 (59%) 2,789 yards. 17 TD/9 INT, 143 rating

2005 DJ Shockley
173/310 (56%) 2,588 yards. 24 TD/5 INT, 148 rating

2006 Joe Tereshinksi - 4 games started
32/57 (56%) 423 yards. 3 TD/2 INT, 129 rating

2006 Matt Stafford - 8 games started
135/256 (53%) 1,749 yards. 7 TD/13 INT, 109 rating

2009 Joe Cox
185/331 (56%) 2,584 yards. 24 TD/15 INT, 136 rating

2010 Aaron Murray
209/342 (61%) 3,049 yards. 24 TD/8 INT, 155 rating

2014 Hutson Mason
188/277 (68%) 2,168 yards. 21 TD/4 INT, 156 rating

You can see some pretty solid campaigns, and some not so solid. Not surprisingly, the best seasons came from seniors. Ramsey will be a RS Sophomore, Bauta a junior, and Lambert a junior.

Don't really have anything to add, just throwing it out there as food for thought.

2001... 8-4...

2005... 10-3...

2006... 9-4...

2009... 8-5...

2010... 6-7...

2014... 10-3...

51-26 with a new QB... Only Mason & DJ were upperclassmen when they took the reins, 3 others were RFr. & Fats took over 1/3rd way thru the season as a true Fr....

51-26... 66%... not too frickin' shabby...

I really wanna get pumped up about lambert, I just don't know shite about him. I vaugely remember us recruiting him out of HS and kind of wanting him, but after that I got nothing. His numbers at UVA are certainly nothing special.

Don't think he did terribly well at UVA but he also played on a terrible team. I will say that what I do like is that he has those experiences. He actually has seen what it is like. Rather he go out there than watch Ramsey piss away a season and I am convinced that is what he will do.

for whatever reason, I just don't feel good about ramsey. I really don't, and it worries me.

He has never passed the eye ball test in live games. You hear about all of the great work he does in practice and you see his huge arm from time to time but he has never shown what we need to see to believe he will be a beast this year. I had the same feeling about DJ Shockley and that worked out ok but Shock had good movement in the pocket.

I find that very interesting. Shock was a top 5 QB nationally out of HS, and our first exposure to him ever was the 02 clemson game where he threw for a TD (to terrence edwards, which set the career TD mark for TE btw) and ran for another. I mean it would be difficult to have a better debut. Granted, his last game before starting (04 tech) was atrocious...but we at least had some good stuff to go on. Anyways I'm rambling now, but I agree that Brice just really hasn't shown much at all to be excited about.

The best thing Ramsey has shown us has been a hand off to Chubb or some of his super human strength overthrows

Can't recall specifically( & it wasn't DJ's fault) but I think CMR put him in a coupla times where he shite his mess kit. Maybe LSU '03 & UF '03 or '04 but it was more of an "WTF" CMR moment IIRC where he put him in in a spot where maybe he shoulda kept Greene in...

DG was shaken up so we had to put DJ in. Unfortunately, he was comign in cold and was backed up against our own 5 yard line so it's hard to really blame him for looking like crap there.

Well in 02 he came in after DG started 5/5 with a TD, which I contend is still one of Richt's biggest coachign blunders. He also would later throw a pick 6 which was the difference in the game. I don't recall him doing anything bad in 03 or 04.

Our first exposure to Mason was his true freshman year...his first pass was a TD. Now that I think about it, it still may be his longest completion.

I don't feel good about Ramsey. I hope I'm wrong...but even then I'll have to stay away from this board for a bit until SthGA stops sucking him off.

Amazing thinking about the QB production in 2010 and 2014 and then comparing the ending records. That's what a couple of all star running backs can do for a team.

I too don't feel good about Ramsey. He's just looked so shaky and has looked like a guy with no confidence in live games. I know he has a huge arm and a lot of potential, but I just have to see more from him to be able to say that he should be the guy. However, I do think that at this point the coaches have leaned towards him over Bauta by a very slight margin and Lambert will have to adjust to the new scheme quickly if he wants a shot at being the starter. My gut feeling is that it is Ramsey's to lose but I wouldn't be surprised if the experienced Lambert starts week 2.

Just to try and take it a step further...

2005 DJ Shockley

First year w/ new DC, but really a carry over from the previous staff

2009 Joe Cox

Last year w/ struggling DC

Aside from 2006, and really 2005, this is the first year a new QB will come in with stability on the other side of the football. 2015 is not comparable to 2006 IMO - all 3 QBs are easily more talented than Tereshinski and all 3 would have more experience than Stafford.

Doesn't look too bad, but that would put us between 8-5 and 9-4. With the defense, OL, and running backs we have, personally I would be disappointed if we don't hit 10 wins.

I think we would win 10 with Bauta, just because he (probably) wouldn't turn it over, but we wouldn't have much of a shot at more. Ramsey could either give us 8 wins or 12...and I don't think I like which way I am leaning between the two.

I didn't realize that Stafford's stats were that bad as a freshman!
