Chubb leads by example....

The fomer five-star prospect dominated in Georgia's ground attack a year ago but the coaches had a different plan for him this spring, his first as a Bulldog.
Instead of letting him do more of the same things he has done his whole life as a ball carrier, the UGA coaching staff made the decision to help him fine tune other parts of his game.
"This spring in particular, we didn't need to see him run between the tackles much. We wanted to see him improve in his third down pass protection, route running, ball catching," Richt said. "So when we scrimmaged, we subbed him in on every third down throughout every scrimmage. Throughout the entire spring, we weren't concerned with first and second down with him because that's been his bread and butter from the beginning."

Seems like even though that's been his biggest strength, it's also a perishable skill that needs to be trained like everything else.

If he takes us to an SEC title my chubb will be spring loaded, that's for sure.

quote:I assume he'll get plenty of reps in the running game in the fall getting ready for the season. Kinda nice to see them focusing on improving an area of his game that was already pretty strong anyway. Any time a back can concentrate on getting better in pass pro & catching the ball outta the backfield it just makes him more valuable going forward...

Complete waste of time. Use Chubb on 1st and 2nd down and there won't be s 3rd down.

That's the kind of stuff that helps draw players to the program.
The kids want to be in the NFL, and if they see elite talent getting trained up, it will help them see that UGA isn't just a place where they can play football, but where they get on-the-job training for the NFL.

i can't wait to see how he looks this season with a whole year of offseason workouts. And with our offensive game plan being centered around him it's going to be fun to watch
