“I think coach Schottenheimer is a great coach,” Richt said. “He knows what he’s doing. I think he knows how to coach QBs extremely well. I’ve got a lot of faith in that. We’ve had some ups and downs, but the season’s not over yet.”
Still, the numbers aren’t pretty. Through seven games, Georgia ranks 77th in passing offense, 92nd in red zone offense and is tied for 108th in third-down conversions. The passing game as a whole has been in a flux, with starting quarterback Greyson Lambert and his receivers being unable to play consistently at the same time. What’s resulted is an undesirable situation further complicated by the loss of sophomore running back Nick Chubb.

Faith must be the answer because reason has left town years ago.

Already??? The dreaded and hated vote of confidence. Whenever that happens you have a real problem.

Our offense has been similar to our 2007 one so far but without the same elite talent at qb and Rb, which sadly means it doesn't have the same potential for improvement.

So a reporter asks him about coach Schott and what do you want him to say?
Reporter- "Coach, how do you feel about your new offensive Coordinator and the job he's done so far?"
Richt - "No comment"
Get your head out of your arse.

Ugly, and deeply troubling.

Too soon. The snake won't shed this skin until the end of next season...

Typical of a UGA team vs strong defenses, which our schedule has been loaded with more than most other seasons.

I know...and I'm not even a sky-fairy believer. Richt has a hard time calling people out, sometimes. While I don't feel its ever appropriate to bad mouth subordinates, speaking truths in a constructive manner is certainly appropriate. I'd also wager that it garners more respect.
I've never understood all the "coach speak" to the media used by most coaches. Richt is not alone...

So Richt has to lie to the reporter? What about his religion and it being a sin?
Now you can argue that it wasn't a lie and Richt truly believes what he said, and if that is the case he should be fired right then and there.
Or Richt could of said something like this, posted earlier
quote:
"He has to improve. I expect more from our coordinator, and I feel like he is capable of more, but he does have to improve. As always, we evaluate our program at every level, and identify areas in need of improvement, and work to do so."

coulda even said this to not single CBS out...
quote:
Richt: "We have to improve as a staff. I expect more from myself & our coaches, and I feel like we are capable of more, and we have to improve...
As always, we evaluate our program weekly at every level, and strive to identify & correct any areas in need of improvement, and work to do so."

Absolutely, Dallas. I can get behind an acknowledgement like that, and I've even seen Richt quoted making such an acknowledgment.
But, more often than not, we get the prideful "onward" attitude with little hint of critical assessment. fricking show the fan base that you are just as disgusted by the performance as we are, and that you are taking a personal interest in improving deficient areas.
I mean, he doesn't HAVE to...but it would be nice. Lose the coach speak.

He's already said he thought the offense performed poorly and I'm sure everything critical happens behind closed doors, like it freaking should.
Going to the media with frustrations is just going to start problems.
