"I look forward to working alongside Mark in the future and in helping him move our program forward in all areas. We will be working on a contract extension with Mark over the coming days. I know Mark is focused on completing his coaching staff and recruiting," McGarity said in the email. "Our support staff is also focused on a number of construction projects, including the indoor practice facility and future enhancements to football areas in Sanford Stadium. We will keep you updated on progress in these areas as they develop."

quote:

"The preparation by our coaching staff and our student-athletes was exceptional, and we certainly performed like we practiced leading up to the game," McGarity told boosters. "The level of enthusiasm and determination we displayed was obvious to everyone, and we were able to maintain that edge throughout the game and defeat a very good Louisville squad. Ten wins and perhaps a Top 10 finish in the polls should make all Bulldogs proud."

quote:

"In my 38 years of experience in college athletics, I can't remember one full season where we had so many highs, lows and unique circumstances," McGarity wrote. "Regardless of the situation, Mark and his staff kept their focus on the student-athletes and their well-being. Mark's "move forward" approach to his profession allowed us to quickly rebound from our "lows" and control the only thing we could control --- our next game. As we know, we enjoyed many "highs" after these "lows" this season."

Two questions: What does this mean UGA plans to do and why is it Chip Kelly as OC?

You need to have your coach under contract for at least four years. I guess we'll see what he gets paid.

That "THUD" everyone just heard was McGarity jumping on the bus.

He can get thrown off again real quick if Pruitt doesn't get a competitive salary, OC isn't paid commensurate with market, and an IPF isn't breaking ground soon though.

Those of us that don't have "sources" inside of B-M knew CMR wasn't going anywhere.

I laugh at these members with their "sources".

Obviously this happened because Tech beat Mullen and Kirby didn't look so smart against Ohio State.

...and because Chip Kelly has verbally agreed to be our OC with an annual salary of $3.4B in untraceable bearer bonds

Anyone think Richt gets into the $4 mil range base? Isn't he currently the second lowest paid sec coach? He certainly isn't second worst.

My guess is that the biggest parts of the negotiations have to do with facilities, asst salaries, and/or support staff. I doubt Richt's that concerned with his salary at this point.

Given that he downsized his house a few years ago and donated all the money to charity, yeah don't think he's too worried.

Anyone that notches a dominating win in the prestigious Belk Bowl deserves a raise and a long term contract.

I look forward to many more years of 7 to 10 wins a season.

If anyone really has sources, they would know that a lot of noise was being made and McGarity felt the pressure. This is a win for the program.
