"At this point insiders expect Eason not just to start against the Tar Heels, but to play the entire game.
Lambert will run with the No. 2 unit, and is only expected to take the starting job if something goes wrong with Eason in the next week. Ramsey will work with the No. 3 unit and continue his punting chores."

Kirby and co. sure know how to present a show. Can't wait until kickoff.

"Hey gang. Kirby Smart, here...

I see your media bus arrived late, so let me do this one more time. Go on Eason, show em you're with the ones again, first rotation. That's right. There you go. Yep, nothing forced here.

Hey. Nobody better be taping this or anything! Gosh gee golly"

What's your angle? I'm trying to follow...

His angle is that Kirby wants UNC to prepare an entire defensive strategy to shut down Eason... confuse him... manhandle him.... take advantage of him...

But on gameday... Lambert comes out... poised and mature, ready to short-pass them to death.. and UNC will be dumbfounded, bewildered, flabbergasted, unable to stop Lambert...

And Kirby smirks... knowing he used the media to do his bidding... for the first time in his life... Kirby uses the media instead of the media using him... Kirby lays the cornerstone to the football empire he is about to build.. with Marc Weizcer as his accomplice...

That's Jefferson's angle.

And it almost makes sense.... time will tell.

I can hear Gary Danielson now...

"That North Carolina blitz was drawn up specifically for Jacob Eason... I was at camp leading up to this at UNC, and saw them running this... back when they thought Eason was starting... we even talked to the coaches a little about it.... but MAN that kind of blitz just ain't gonna work against Greyson Lambert, and MAN, he just showed you why Verne... I mean Todd."

Gary Danielson continued..

"Alot of guys you can blitz toward the right tackle because that's usually your second-best blocker, but right here you see North Caronlina trying to bring the middle linebacker behind the doubleteam on the nose guard, but Lambert sniffed it out immediately and dumped it off behind him, leading to this critical 1st down. Clearly this blitz was designed for Jacob Eason in mind. So Lambert gets the first down here, and Kirby gets to chalk up another mindfrick on Chizik."

You guys are too Smart for me.

I'm thinking that if Lambert hasn't by now separated himself enough from Eason to be the clear choice then you have to go with Eason. Why wouldn't you? If Lambert is that much smarter then wouldn't he have made the choice clear by now?

Why does Kirby give a shite who Chiz thinks is starting? You bring up a good point: The offense is the same, no matter if it's Lambert or Eason taking the first snap. With Chubb starting, it's gonna be a whole hell of a lot of him and Holyfield anyway. As soon as the defense starts loading the box, we go over the top. Who gives us the best chance to do that? Eason.

The Kirby vs Carolina gamesmanship angle is being way over played.

They will start the best guy and it sounds like that is Eason.

Eason > Virginia second string QB, you would have thunk it.

If you were Gene Chizik, who would you want to start?

ANSWER: the freshman kid. Every. got. dammned. time.

-I'm all in on this pot.
-Lambert will start.

And I call. It's Eason. What throw can Lambert make that Eason cant? Eason gives us the best chance to win. Don't forget what happened to Lambert when he played a defense even remotely worth a shite.

If our O Line is coached up as much as we all hope either of these QB's shouldn't have a problem handing off the ball.

Jesus - this is going to be a long week.

Why was he practicing on our field?

Maybe. But Smart also said that there's value in having 29 college football games under your belt. Lambert might be less of a risk.

Then again...Eason's got to get the experience sometime. Why not now?

Exactly. If Kirby goes 9-3 or 8-4 with Eason, he's still in his honeymoon year plus Eason is clearly the QB of the future. Lambert starting only prolongs the inevitable.
