I can't believe Mark Fox isn't going to get fired after this past year's dreadful underachieving team.

I decided to look for a theoretical potential replacement, using 3 criteria.

1. He coaches a high scoring team.
2. His team is winning.
3. Taking the Georgia job would be a step up for him.

I did find 1 obvious prospect--Pat Kelsey of Winthrop.

He's winning at Winthrop. He took them to the NCAA, and they have a top 20 scoring team.

Unlike UGA, Winthrop won big games in their conference and upset Illinois. They scored 86 against Florida State. Under Fox, Georgia didn't upset anybody this year and got destroyed several times in games they were supposed to win.

I just don't understand the mentality of so many fans and the athletic director accepting Mark Fox's miserable season.

What are they afraid of? That they might miss the NIT next year?

I agree, we should fire him and possibly whip his arse for the terrible things he has done for the program. Who is gonna go whip his arse? Why are you afraid to do it? Are y'all a bunch of pussies who want to go to the NIT?

If you don't kick Fox's arse, it means you are complacent and satisfied with going to the NIT. It's a simple concept really. Saying you want him fired on the internet does nothing to change the program.... but, if you kick his arse, he will leave and you will truly have made a difference. That's what it's about...right? I mean, if you can blame people on the internet who don't want him fired as the reason UGA went to the NIT, I say, if you don't go and whip his arse, then you are guilty for the state of the program. If we are gonna project here... let's really fricking project.

Maybe I missed this, but when did this happen? I mean I enjoy a good ranty diatribe with no basis in reality as much as the next guy, but maybe I missed the instigating post for your comments.

That seems par for the course. I'm not really in favor of a mid tier type commitment. IMO it shows UGA as weak. It shows we are cheap. It shows even less commitment and lack of interest in building a brand. Heaven forbid if the basketball team started making NCAAT's while the football team was winning Tax Slayer Bowls. Fat arse 80 year olds couldn't sleep at night.

If you wanted to go the cheap route and wanted to gamble, which is what we will do, I would look at the coaches from FGC or MTSU. I'm very impressed with their brand.

It's just that... i don't understand the mentality of fans standing by and watching Fox send us to the NIT and not whip his arse. If we don't take action, we are accepting the status quo.

Adding to your criteria, hopefully this person has increased win totals at their current school.

Say they start off at 18-19 wins and by they time they are in their last year they have 25+ wins. That's ideal though, IMO.

i won't accept anything less that 30 wins and elite 8 every year. If you don't agree with me, your are part of the problem.

No. Kelsey is not a good coach. He's someone that is maxed out at a small school because he has a descent eye for talent, but doesnt know how to coach his way out of a paper sack.

I get what you are saying Cracker... I've sat through the 10-20 seasons as well as the 22-8's. To put things in perspective, Fox has accomplished much more than what UGA is accustomed to. Herrick was on the verge of turning UGA into a power house but we all know how that ended. Felton could recruit, somewhat, but was just a total frickstick. Fox is a little of both. Mr. consistent. He's a decent coach, not great. One thing, and probably the biggest for me, is he has CHANGED, the reality and thinking of UGA fans. All of a sudden, with 3/4 20 win seasons, we as fans are expecting to be some powerhouse but we're not. Fox has built a good foundation. Now it's time to capitalize.

I'm good either way. Would just love to see more energy in the program.
