Worse crop of gnats I've ever seen. Anybody else experiencing this shite ? Got any solutions for yards?

I bought two box fans from walmart yesterday and set them up on the patio today. If you sit in the breeze, no gnats, and cuts down on mosquitos too. But it is white trashy.

I've never seen them as thick as they are this year. A man could make a fortune if he could rid the world of these motherfrickers. 100's of billions spent on research and no iron clad solutions.

"Skin so soft" helps but I don't keep a bottle in my pocket 24/7.

I need to root around the junk corner in the barn to find my old highway construction smudge pots. Put some diesel fuel in them and no gnats, skeeters, or no see 'ums. Get an oscillating fan and it'll chase them away too.

I put about 2 oz on a 16 oz spray bottle and fill it with water. Works great.

I've heard vanilla extract also repels em but I've never tried it. I want something too wipe em out.

I'm sitting outside in a 15 knot breeze listening to the waves and the only thing bothering me is I may have to pee soon.

You aren't worried about sand crabs pinching your little toes?

He's probably worried about crabs, but not the ones that tickle his toes.

Wear pants with a hole in the crotch....the frickers will leave your face alone.

Seriously they aren't gnats.... They are zoom flies and they buzz around horses asses. I ant saying you are a horses arse but you can't fool a zoom fly.....

These damn yellow flies are tearing me up. I swell up like Norbit after one of their bites too. I can't work in the backyard for long, but I did put an air mover on my bench so at least my head/face wouldn't get bit.

Cutter makes a yard spray that attaches to your garden hose and mixes with the water flow. It leaves a pretty strong chemical smell for the first day, so you might not want to spray it right before you plan on lighting the grill or whatever. But It nepalms every ant no-seeum mosquito etc though, and their nests. Only lasts a few days before they start slowly coming back though.

Also, I've never tried it but some people say dryer sheets keep the gnats away. They roll one up under their collar or put one under their hat.

I'm making one of these later to see how it works.

LINK

It's basically an inverted halved 2-liter coke bottle, with sugar water + yeast to create CO2 which draws them in.

And when it's done, you also have a delicious malted protein beverage.

Dam you young folks are thick headed. How long yall lived in the south and still having to deal with gnats, flies, noseeums and all matter of assorted flying, biting, aggravating pests? If you are born and bred southerner and don't know that the answer is either loose fitting short pants OR a small hole in the seat of you pants...nothing too noticeable 'cause you don't want you dammed old nasty arse hanging out...that all of them will stay around your nether regions and out of your face. These things aren't the brightest critters in the world and they much prefer arse sweat to face and neck sweat...probably more protein or something. All the sprays and candles and such nonsense in the world won't work like giving the bastards a whiff of sweaty arse. SOme of the "scientists" at Awlbarn should apply for a grant and study the chemical makeup of arse sweat because it is like ambrosia to all sorts of flying pests. I promise you, if you give it a try you will see that as soon as they have unobstructed access to your sweaty arse they will leave your face alone and never look back.

I like this idea for a mosquito trap, but the bottle looks ugly to hang outside in my yard. Can I decorate the outside of the bottle with some sort of flower design and will it discourage mosquitoes from entering the bottle?

I was thinking of painting a flower garden design or using stickers.

Move your yard north of Macon.

Got an orchard in a neighboring county that's geographically 20 miles north of Macon, and it's covered up with em. This isn't the answer. They've jumped the great gnat wall
